(no subject)

It is not yet absolutely official (we haven't signed the papers), but it looks very much as if The Boy and I will be moving about the middle of next month, probably on the 16th.

After various recent hassles of greater and lesser degree with our current apartment complex, and aware of the fact that our lease is coming up at the end of next month, we took Saturday of last weekend and went hunting for other options... and almost immediately found a place in quieter part of the same general neighborhood we live in now, closer to the grocery store we go to, and conveniently possessed of two things we have both desperately missed from my old apartment in Greenlake: a balcony, and in-unit washer/dryer. We applied immediately, and put down a holding deposit. Yesterday, we got a call from the manager to let us know we had it.

Obviously, moving is not completely optimal. The new place is slightly more expensive than the current one, but within a range that we're confident we can afford, and we're really excited at the idea of moving over there, even if the actual moving part is going to be a total pain in the neck. Local folks, we'll probably email Saturday, once things have been signed and made absolutely solid, with a plea for assistance in schlepping all our stuff from A to B, with the usual pizza and beer bribery.

In the mean time, we're going to be spending a lot of the upcoming weeks looking for boxes and going through all our stuff to find the things we don't need anymore and can reasonably throw out to save hassle on moving-day. :)

Hey, sounds like a nice improvement to your current home! :o) Have fun with the move, hopefully you'll be done with it quickly so you can spent your free time with planning your wedding again!

OT, but I always find it funny to see German words that have worked their way into the English language, and schlepping sounds cute :o)

Thanks! We're getting rid of the green chair and the orange couch (sad, but it's pretty much dead), and apart from The Boy's couch we think most of the stuff in storage, now, is just a few boxes of clothes and my trunk. We'll have to go over there and check it outt. Probably a U-Haul will be a good idea, I think.

Honestly, I don't think we're in need of much at this point. The Boy had a nice big couch before I moved in that he graciously put in storage so that I could have the beloved orange couch you gave me a while ago, so now that I've finally had to call time of death on it, his will be coming back out. The green thing just filled things out a bit, since the orange couch was smaller than his. Other than picking up some papasan chairs (...I always feel strange writing out that word, but I'm fairly sure that's how one spells it...), I think we'll be good.

Congratulations on the new place! Since you can afford it, I think a slightly higher rent is definitely worth what sounds like a much more comfortable living situation. (I am spoiled and could not live without an in-unit washer/dryer myself.)

Omg, lemme tell you - it has been Quite Interesting living without it after being so used to it in Grimmauld Place and the Greenlake apartment. I will be so happy to be back to it!

Bah, I just mean that I always feel kind of "mergh" about inviting people over in our current place - it's like "come over and... er... sit on our floor, actually, because we don't really have the whole seating thing figured out. Hmmmmmmmm."

Oh, I know. Random's just... slightly more aggressive about his bad behavior sometimes than I'm used to. I got so mad at him last night - Theo came up on the bed to snuggle while I was writing, and then Random got up and chased him away, the little bastard. :P

*sigh* Yeah. Drannor sometimes does things like that, but not because he's mean, he's just supremely confident, and seems to think that other cats are as confident. So he'll jump for wand toys and scare Kershach off, or claim people's attention and leave Kershach feeling neglected, because he seems to assume that Kershach will just take something if he wants it. At least, that's my wannabe-Jane-Goodall-for-cats interpretation of his behavior.

We actually just heard back from our current landlord a couple of days ago and will be signing a new lease until August 2012, so we're steady in the U-District for at least another 16 months or so. (Relief!)

But when our time to leave finally comes, that's an area we've talked about ♥ Of course, by then, everyone will have moved on again. We're always a year behind the rest of the herd XD

Yeah, when we started thinking about moving we talked about looking back into Greenlake area and I thought "you know, it'd be kind of awful if, now that almost everybody from the old group is going to be in the same general area again, I moved back to the old area again." Sigh. C'est la vie, but still. At least most of us are still in the same major city, even if we're a bit spread out every now and then.

I agree with that completely. I'm kinda missing Seattle at the moment, though not necessarily because of the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear situation. I think it was watching the Mariner's opening game.
