Short version: Still unpacking and cleaning old place, haven't seen new Doctor Who yet (no spoilers!), loving the hell out of Portal 2 (no spoilers here, either!♥), enjoyed wonderfully sunny beautiful warm weather in Seattle today, characters keeping me up late trying to get through angsty scene to hopefully a moderately happy conclusion.

And because I am clearly not thinking clearly at the moment - how about a meme gacked from [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 and [livejournal.com profile] ariastar?

Give me a character and I will tell you:

* How I FEEEEEL about this character
* All the people I ship romantically with this character
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
* My unpopular opinion about this character
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

* How I FEEEEEL about this character: ♥♥♥♥♥ In case you couldn't tell, Delenn is one of my very favorite-ever characters - she's a bundle of contradictions wrapped up in delicious bad-assery and a character arc that, when you take in the whole backstory given to her, is just so awesome it makes me flail with glee.

* All the people I ship romantically with this character: Oh, gosh. Sheridan, Lennier, Ivanova, Mayan, Dukhat, Neroon... I'd try for Marcus if I could find a good set-up, though I haven't yet...

* My non-romantic OTP for this character - Actually, I really love her friendships with both Londo and G'Kar, and I view both of those as pretty darned platonic. So there you go.

* My unpopular opinion about this character - Not necessarily unpopular anymore, but I get the impression it was in earlier years in the fandom, and may still be in some areas: I refuse to write her as always-and-eternally loyal to John Sheridan. There's just too much time (and too many people I love to ship her with). It breaks my heart to think of Delenn as she was implied to have lived the last, what, hundred years or so of her life, in "Deconstruction of Falling Stars" - just sitting around in a temple somewhere waiting for someone to think of saying something slightly nasty about her dead husband? That's not the Delenn I know. She loved him, but she loved others, too, and she had better things to do in her later years than pine away in seclusion.

* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. - In canon, I most of all wish we'd got to see more of her friendship with Susan. It's implied on and off, but the writers never bothered to actually make it happen beyond the hair-and-cramps conversation, and, really? That just kind of annoyed me in a lot of ways. Susan and Delenn's friendship would have been absolutely epic, if we'd had the chance to see some of it for real. ♥

It's been ages since I saw Babylon 5, but Delenn was great. And I don't think any character should pine away for their dead husband and be sad for years and years. Delenn especially - there was more to her than that.

Yay, River! ♥

* How I FEEEEEL about this character - Hooray!!!♥ She is New!Who's surrogate Romana, I think, and that makes me happy - someone who doesn't take any of the Doctor's nonsense even though she loves him very much, and, as a bonus, is played by an actress I have loved for many many many years. Alex Kingston will always be an awesome goddess in my head, and River Song is a wonderful piece of that.

* All the people I ship romantically with this character - Pretty much The Doctor (any incarnation), Romana (any incarnation), and the Tardis (because the Tardis needs love, too). I'd be interested to see her with Martha or Ace or Sarah Jane, though I haven't yet. Oh, and Jack. Because they can be awesome and 51st century together.

* My non-romantic OTP for this character - Amy Pond. I can't look at her sexually (too young!!!), but I'd love to see her and River as awesome universe-saving BFFs without the Doctor. Because girls need to save the universe without the Doctor sometimes.

* My unpopular opinion about this character - Ehhhhhh, is there any such thing as an "unpopular opinion" about River, these days? Half the world hates her, half the world loves her, I'm in the love half, but I do wish they'd knock off the catch-phrases and the wife thing. At a certain point, it's just kind of lazy writing.

* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. - I would like her to be a future regeneration of Romana, thank you. It's been too long since we've had a bad-ass female Time Lord.

I really should watch the originals, shouldn't I? There are a lot of them on Netflix.

I read your Nine/Tardis fic the other day. I really liked it! I do get the impression from the show that she has a mind of her own. She knows better than the Doctor where he needs to be sometimes.

A spin-off with River and Amy would be great! I like Amy, she's adorable. I wish season five was available for streaming on Netflix. I'd love to sit and watch it all again.

FESTINA!!!♥

* How I FEEEEEL about this character - How else can I feel? Festina is the most awesome bad-ass ever!♥ Quintessential western hero, and grumpy sardonic warrior-woman after my own heart. What's not to love?♥

* All the people I ship romantically with this character - That'd pretty much be Faye and Youn Suu. Oh, and Kaisho. Those last two are somewhat tricky, because Festina would be Very Concerned about getting Balrog cooties (or, you know, the Balrog sitting there watching like a bloody pervert), but really she should just be worried that the Pollisand is hiding in the corner snickering, and that's a non-stop kind of concern, so. I say it's still worth it!

* My non-romantic OTP for this character - Oar! Their awesome friendship should not be tainted with romance, because I think it would break Festina's poor little brain.♥

* My unpopular opinion about this character - ...Wait, are there enough of us for there to be popular opinions? Where are they? Can I join in?! ...But seriously. *Sigh* Well, as is fairly clear from the above, I think Festina's bi? That might have to count, considering the size of this fandom... oh, and thinking she'd never ever ever get involved with Oar sexually is probably also unpopular. I just think she sees Oar too much like a little sister to go there.

* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. - Hmm, lemme think about this. Oh, wait, I know - ANYTHING ELSE. ANYTHING ELSE, SERIOUSLY. GARDNER, ARE YOU LISTENING? PLEASE WRITE MORE FESTINA. WE NEED MORE CANON. YOU CANNOT JUST DROP US AT THE END OF RADIANT, THAT IS NOT OKAY AT ALL. DX

....*Coughs* Sorry there. Got a little over-excited. ;)

Using Susan Ivanova icon, because she is the closest I can come to an icon of Festina, and because they would be totally bad-ass together. Are we counting crossovers in the "ship" list? Because if we are, I might have to add Susan. And half the other awesome women in science-fiction. Because Festina needs to get some action, damn it. ♥

There is NOTHING NOT TO LOVE.

I agree with you completely re: not romantically shipping her with Oar, although I think there were canonical hints as to its possibility (in the early days, before the two of them developed that sisterly bond) and also that Oar herself would be 100% okay with it, so I understand and forgive anyone who DOES ship it. Faye/Festina/Fayes's-group-marriage is pretty much my League of Peoples OTP and pardon me while I go squee in a corner that someone else in the whole dang internet knows who the Pollisand is. *deep breath* RIGHT. Festina is obviously bi! I think that even if there were enough of us to have opinions, full stop, that ought not to be an unpopular one! BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY TRUE!

Sadly I don't think we're going to get any more canon. :( The people who own the rights to the existing books dropped their contract with Mr. Gardner, which means that publishing more canon is sort of a legal nightmare. No publisher wants to purchase a book in a series to where they don't own the rights to the earlier books.

Okay, WHO is Susan Ivanova? This is the third time in as many days that I've heard her name in connection to OMH THIS LADY IS AWESOME, and now I'm being told she's like Festina, which is a fracking SOLID recommendation for anyone. Clearly I need to check this lady out.

Lol. Agreed with all of the above! ♥ I was just struggling to come up with SOMETHING for the unpopular opinion, because, hell, I don't even know. And yes, Oar would be 110% behind her and Festina getting together - her crush on Festina always makes me flail my hands and giggle.

The publisher stuff: Yeah, it's a genuine cluster. I'm... honestly kind of hoping a loophole of some type will save us, even though I know it's extremely unlikely. I keep trying to figure out what could work, not coming up with anything, and then forcing the books on other people so they can be just as upset as I am. :P

Susan Ivanova is... unspeakably awesome, but she's also the 2nd in command from a lovely and insane little 90s sci-fi show you may have heard of, Babylon 5. Here's another icon of her. She's snarky and sardonic and utterly bad-ass, and takes absolutely nobody's shit. When I am not at work, I shall find clips on YouTube for you or something, but it's worth saying straight out that the whole series is, I believe, on Netflix streaming, and entirely worthwhile with the important caveat that the the budget was very low in the first season in particular and that you must... somewhat adjust your expectations of a sci-fi series if you're used to the shiny recent stuff like the new BSG or whatever. Think old-series Doctor Who. It's kind of cracktastic and bizarre and sometimes the guest actors really want to eat the furniture. It is also not a series that takes well to being seen out of order (although it's possible if you're very open-minded about being confused). Also, DO NOT watch the pilot (titled "The Gathering"). Just don't. It's scary.

....And if I haven't terrified you away from it, I'll give more info when I'm not supposed to be working. lol.

It really was! Looks like today's not going to be quite so pretty by a long shot, at least not here. Oh well, it keeps me from wanting to run outside all the time rather than doing the indoor stuff I want to get done. ♥

Karissa and Rogelio got married yesterday, at Salty's on Alki and it was absolutely beautiful! It was a rush rush rush wedding with only a week between getting officially engaged and the wedding because Rogelio is leaving this week for Japan. I hope you get as beautiful a day as they did. You deserve t!

Hooray!!!♥

* How I FEEEEEL about this character - Laura Roslin is terrifying and awesome, and I love her very very very muchly. Even when I disagree with her (and I do, often...), I love love love her because she's tough, she does whatever she thinks is necessary, no matter what, and she's freaking amazing about it. Madame Airlock shall always have my vote... even when she's planning on stealing the election anyway.♥

* All the people I ship romantically with this character - I'm such a boring person with BSG - I'm afraid that "all" is "Bill Adama." I might be convinced to ship her and one of the Sixes or Threes under some circumstances, but it would depend on the fic.

* My non-romantic OTP for this character - Her and Lee Adama are totally BFFs, and I would like very much to see more of her and Starbuck. They should hang out and do shots or something, it'd be awesome.

* My unpopular opinion about this character - Wow, I just don't know with this fandom - is it unpopular to say that I think she didn't handle Gaius and his damned groupies very well?

* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. - I'm going to have to go with Doc Cottle looking up one say and saying "Gee, half-Cylon DNA put her cancer into remission once - what say we try it again, shall we?!" And then she and Adama actually get to build their little cabin on the hill, and Laura reminds everyone that it would be totally stupid to throw away their medicines and medical technology and all that, and don't even think about not taking down a few weapons, and - no, no, Romo, you're still the president, don't worry. Laura is just going to hang around occasionally, to sure you don't screw it up. ♥

Bwahahaha! Excellent way to put it. ;)

I hadn't ever thought of Laura/Three, but...that would be interesting.

Maybe? I agree, though.

TOTALLY agree with your revision of canon. Argh argh argh why didn't they use more half-Cylon blood argh.
