Drive-by update to try to catch the things that are going on right now!

- All finished moving out of old apartment, and will be going tomorrow morning to turn in our keys at the office.

- Getting settled at the new apartment (for a definition of "settled" that still includes a whole lot of boxes). My favorite things about the new place are how open and airy it feels, especially in the living room, how gorgeous the upstairs bathroom is, how fantastic it feels to have in-unit washer/dryer again (imagine - I can just throw some stuff in the wash, leave, and come back later to put it in the dryer whenever I have time, without worrying about it being pulled out and left wet on a table!), the balcony (which I fully intend to transform into a little container garden - if you have any advice about this, I'd love to hear it as I've never done so before), and how awesome it is to just step out my door and have, instead of a busy street and a bunch of empty or seedy shop fronts, a nice, quiet, tree-lined street and, 2 blocks down, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Seattle with fantastic restaurants, bars, and shops.♥

- I am, alas, having some heart trouble again. I was diagnosed with arrhythmia (cause unknown) a few years ago, and although it quieted down for several years, it's been back to its old annoying tricks lately. At first I blamed it on the stress surrounding the move, but most of that's been done for a few weeks now, and the heart is still all wonky. I'm due for a physical anyway, but I'm not looking forward to another round of poking, prodding, and cardiologists eyeballing me and refusing to believe that yes, I'm only 28, and no, I don't smoke, drink alcohol or caffeine excessively (in fact my caffeine intake has been reduced to pretty much only white tea and the occasional green tea or decaf coffee - my poor, neglected collection of black tea!), take any herbal supplements or drugs other than the daily baby aspirin that was prescribed for my condition and the occasional ibuprofen for a headache or whatever, have high blood pressure (that, ironically, is consistently fine!), or train excessively for marathons or anything weird like that. It gets a little tiring after a while. I don't know what it is - I just live in this body. I've had the heart monitor, I've had the blood tests... it has been roundly agreed by every doctor I've seen to be "really weird." And, apparently, inexplicable. It's also really damned frustrating and upsetting.

...Aaaand then I gave myself a minor panic attack by looking at symptom and treatment info for arrhythmia on the American Heart Association website, because I am a moron and constantly forget, apparently, that it's a bad idea for me to look at that kind of thing while I'm having an episode. ARRRRGH.

Right, that was all a bit of a downer. No big deal, nothing I haven't dealt with for a while, just annoyed because I don't particularly want to go through the whole rigmarole again. With luck, I can at least get the doctor I really like, when I do go in. Anyway!

- Continuing my grand tradition of being at least 3 years late to every awesome TV show ever... We're almost done watching Avatar: The Last Airbender! We're most of the way through season 3 at the moment, just finished the Invasion Day 2-parter - no spoilers, please! ♥ But omgwtf I love this show. The characters are all so awesome and fun and the writing is shockingly good for what it is, and yayyyyyyyy.♥

Gah! Heart stuff: *hugs*

I hope they eventually figure out what's going on in there or, at the very least, find a way to treat it.

Isn't it fun? :P *Hugs*

I hope so, too. I've been avoiding going back, honestly, because the next step the last time I talked to my cardiologist was medication, and... I really don't want to go there unless I have to? But if cutting down caffeine this much doesn't do it, I don't think anything else will - I'm not generally unhealthy, even if I could probably stand to eat a little less fatty food.

Oh yesh, a total joy.

Depending on the heart meds you end up on, it's either not so bad or kinda life-altering. My hope for you is that if you do have to go onto meds that they fall in the former camp. Non-life-altering meds ftw.

That'd be nice, yeah. :P I really don't have a concept of what it would be, since it wasn't discussed last time, so... I guess we'll see whenever I get around to making the appointment. Well, first with the GP and then with the cardiologist, probably. ...I should probably look up how that works with the place I go to, actually. Sigh.

Mm, yeah. And not to discourage you but to make sure you are prepped for it ahead of time, our medical insurance sucks. Expect to pay more out of pocket than with our previous insurance company.

*hugs* Hope all goes well at the doctors. Of course, it's always tests, tests and more tests, right? Only to tell you, no idea and give you a medication.. :P *crosses fingers for you*

Sounds like the move is going well, and woot for washer/dryer. :)

I get really bad heart palpitations when I have let myself become dehydrated. And they usually start AFTER I realize I've become dehydrated and start drinking lots of water to catch myself up, then go away like a week later. I find that even with stress, it takes a while after the stress is gone before the problem goes away, and the fact that I get stressed about the palpitations makes it all that much worse.
Let me know how it goes Hun. Love you

Ugh, sorry your heart is still being inexplicably weird! Good luck on finding solutions.

One thing that might be helpful to know is that apparently the common wisdom regarding types of tea and caffeine levels might not be true. I wonder if maybe your caffeine tolerance isn't quite so low as it seems, if there is some stealth!caffeine in your white tea?

Also, your apartment sounds lovely - is it a townhouse layout? I need to see it some time since I missed out on the move!

Thanks!

And wow, thanks for that link - I had a general sense that the caffeine levels in white and green tea could vary quite a bit, but I had no idea that some varieties had more caffeine than, say, a good cup of genmaicha. (Hooray, an excuse to drink my beloved genmaicha again, at least!) I shall have to do more research on this, because, yeah, that's probably at least a factor in what's going on here.

It's sort of a townhouse? Almost everything is on the first, "main" floor, except the loft bedroom, the washer/dryer, and the "main" bathroom (the one with a full tub instead of just a shower stall). We'd love to have you over some time! Right now we're still kind of drowning in boxes, but everything's slowly getting figured out!

Hi, I would check your teas for licorice root. Especially many of the herbal teas have licorice root and it will give me worse palpitations than caffeine.
Our whole family seems to have a sensitivity to it.
Stay away from that for a few days and I bet your palpitations will go away.

Nope, no licorice root. I don't like the taste of it, so I always keep an eye out for it. (And, weirdly, I've never had any trouble off licorice... I know everybody else does, but I don't seem to.)

I do this ALL THE TIME. You'd think I'd know better by now, but nooooooo. Sympathies, empathy, and all the rest.

Also? I'm really looking forward to your reaction to the latter half of A:TLA S3. You're coming up on some of my favorite episodes now. &hearts

My advice for container gardens = plant stuff, water frequently, pray and/or cross fingers as per personal religious/secular tendencies. *grin* It's worked for me so far! Also: chives are the immortal container plant. You literally cannot go wrong with a pot of chives.

Urgh, random health problems. NOT WITH THE COOL. :( I wish you luck with regards to the doctors figuring out what's actually going on there.

A:TLA! Is good! I actually having nothing to say on that front, I just think more A:TLA fans is always a good thing.
