For health reasons specific to my own weird biochemistry (and also because trying to get pregnant) I've gone totally non-alcohol in addition to already going no-caffeine. Typically this doesn't bother me, but I have learned that I suffer from occasional bouts of "but beer!" or "but wine!" However, when we went to our favorite Indian/Nepalese restaurant last night I was reminded that, oh yeah, non-alcoholic beer is totally a thing, and while it's slightly less complex than real beer I actually find it a totally reasonable substitute.
"Now I just need non-alcoholic red wine," I told The Boy.
"I think Welch's makes that," he replied, because he loves to be annoying sometimes.
But I realized, hey, surely I am not the only person who wants non-alcoholic red wine, right?
And lo, I was correct in my assumption. Non-alcoholic wine is a thing, and while I am unlikely to find a Primitivo (my favorite wine), there is a Cabernet Sauvignon that's pretty well reviewed. Now if I can just find something that tastes like good green tea but is completely caffeine-free, I'll really be set!
Furthermore, in non-beverage news, Cat Valente has a new book coming out next April called Space Opera. It is basically "Eurovision in space" and I want it RIGHT NOW, I cannot WAIT to read this thing.

I've been drinking a really strong "breakfast" rooibos (by Dragonfly teas, not sure if they are in the States) lately to try to substitute my usual addiction to strong black tea.
