Goodness, no, I would sooner shoot my own foot than get a puppy. A grown dog is still significant extra work (which is in large part why we eventually convinced ourselves that no, we do not really want to adopt this dog), but puppies are a big nope for me.
We both like dogs (specifically medium to large dogs, and I won't consider anything that isn't bigger than a chihuahua), and I'm sure we'll get one at some point. But holding out until L is bigger will make it a lot easier.
