Yet another reason that, although I never got used to the whole going-to-church part of Unitarian Universalism, I freaking love Unitarians. And also San Francisco. Friends who belong to groups associated with either (or both!) of those things should probably check out that article, because I think it will make them happy. ♥

"Beware! Unless you people shut up and begin acting like grown-ups with brains enough to understand the difference between political belief and personal faith, the Unitarian Jihad will begin a series of terrorist-like actions. We will take over television studios, kidnap so-called commentators and broadcast calm, well-reasoned discussions of the issues of the day. We will not try for "balance" by hiring fruitcakes; we will try for balance by hiring non-ideologues who have carefully thought through the issues.

We are Unitarian Jihad. We will appear in public places and require people to shake hands with each other."

Writing on my giganta-fic for the Tardis Big Bang thingy (65,000 words of fic, because apparently NaNoWriMo isn't enough for me anymore...) is proceeding apace, though I wonder if the fandom will speak to me ever again by the time I finish it. I've got 16,000 words as of last night. ...Only about 50,000 to go! *Dies* I'm delusional! But in a good way! The minimum is actually 20,000 (with no upper limit), which I've almost already hit, and I have no idea where I got the other number. Folks also taking part, can someone confirm I'm not totally batshit?

And the rough draft is due March 16. I think I can manage that without losing my mind and still get this thing to really work. Woohoo!

Went to service at UUC for the first time in a few months yesterday, with [livejournal.com profile] zinjadu and [livejournal.com profile] maymargaret, and was happy to run into the new couple from our evening discussion group. I'm really starting to feel cozy there, so that pleases me. We've got a big community involvement thing coming up, so I'm excited to see what starts coming out of that in the next few months.

Aaaand, Kendra and I watched part of "The Five Doctors" last night. It's... umm... I love Five? He's so cute. And also the Ainley!Master. And when she's not adorably tiny and surrounded by equally bad acting and special effects, I can't stand the woman who plays Susan. I kept having to walk away when she was on-screen, she irritated me that much. Also, someone on the costume team had a serious grudge against Liz Sladen in this episode - that was literally the most hideous outfit ever. And Pertwee abandoned his lisp! What happened there?

Oh. One other thing. The 4th Doctor bit cut out of the unused footage from "Shada?" Blows my brain. Umm. A big old post-death thank you goes out to Douglas Adams for doing away with any lingering ambiguity about whether or not the Doctor and Romana were screwing like bunnies. Thanks, Adams. I'll never be able to look at that kind of boating with an innocent mind ever again. Also, it is obscenely weird that Tom Baker has a nice butt, and moreso that the camera-man appeared to think it needed to figure prominently throughout this scene. WEIRD, I tell you. ...But I'm not complaining. o_O

...I'll be over here, now, pretending not to be completely deranged. Ahem.

Also, I did some shopping on Saturday and bought a lovely new bag and an awesome pair of boots. Yay for pretty things.
