rivendellrose: (today sucks)
I know it's Friday, and I know it's 2pm, but can the week be over now? Seriously? Can we just be done and have a weekend and have everything stop existing on the scale of mild suck?

I'm tired. I would like to go home and do useless things, and maybe work on the baby blanket I'm crocheting for my cousin, and poke more at the fic I'm trying to write. If I really get excited, I could try to figure out how we can have a Christmas tree with our three obnoxious fuzzballs and their tendency to create disaster. Really, that's all I want to do. I'm tired of the rest of it.
rivendellrose: (you're kidding)
So, for years I've been patiently waiting for James Alan Gardner to put out the next book in his 'Expendable' universe. In the last book, "Radiant," a lot of really awesome stuff started coming together, and I was so excited to see where he'd go with it, but... nothing. Every few months I check his website, only to find no updates. After finishing a re-read on "Radiant" today, and recommending the series to someone, I thought "well, it's been a few months, time to give his site a go again." This time, there was an update.

"I no longer have a contract with Harper-Collins, the publisher that has the rights to the existing League books. It isn't likely that another publisher would want to handle new books in the series, given that they don't have the rights to the books that already exist. Never say never, but the odds aren't good for Festina to fly again."

Curses. *Shakes fist at sky*

Also, today, I saw "I ♥ Edward" and "I ♥ Jason" t-shirts in the front window of Nordstroms.

There is no justice in the world. Or at least not in the world of publishing. I cannot express what an intense feeling of doom the confluence of these two facts makes me feel for a future in writing. If this series can't get continued, I just plain don't know what - other than teen appeal and obnoxiously trite romance - can.

The only other thing I can come up with to say is that I hope whoever decided not to renew that contract with Harper Collins gets a bad case of snarky interstellar red moss on their ass. :P

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go poke uselessly at my story for [livejournal.com profile] imaginary_beasts.

rivendellrose: (wonder)
It is not at all supposed to be this hot in Seattle, in my basement, at 12:30.

In other news, Lennier (the laptop) is now completely cleaned out and running Windows XP. And I wrote for a while this afternoon. A little of the fic I'm writing for [livejournal.com profile] zinjadu's birthday, and a little of the inevitable B5 fic. About, of course, Lennier. What? I had to christen the new laptop with fic about his namesake, didn't I?
