*bang, crash, whistle, fizzle, bang*
Jul. 4th, 2004 10:50 pmAhh, the good ole US of A and it's desire to overdo celebrations. I want to go to bed, but our neighbors are having far too much fun setting off explosives to let me do that. Now, normally, I'm not such a humbug about stuff like this... but I'm having a hard time getting in the "yay America!" type spirit this year. I'm more in a "gods get me out of here before it gets any worse" kind of mood lately. But I digress.
I did actually try to see some of the damned things from our balcony, but apparently they're close enough to be annoying, but so close that I can see them. The trees (which they apparently are hoping to light on fire) seem to be in the way. As for actually going to see one of the big shows... I'm sick of the one that I usually go to, and didn't feel up to braving the crowds anyway. So had pleasant evening chatting with people, reading Reaper Man, eating bratwurst, and drinking one of my last Blue Hawaiians. Wheeeee.
Working on another fic, because the one thing the fireworks have been good for was to give me a little plot-bunny. Who'd have thought? So I guess I should get to that, but I'm feeling a bit spacy and not quite in proper writing form at the moment. I know if I wait til tomorrow I won't feel quite so zippy about the whole idea, though, probably.
Hmm... I know there were other things I was going to report. But I don't remember them at the moment (a sure sign that I'm too tired).

Date: 2004-07-05 09:51 am (UTC)My neighbors were of the same mindframe as yours, but I'm used to them having explosive fights at odd hours of the morning, so I have gotten used to sleeping through the noise. ^_~

::agrees wholeheartedly::
And hooray for plot bunnies!
