Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lovelies:

1. What do you wish you had been named? I love my name, but the idea of not having the same name as (seemingly) fifty percent of the girls my age is a very appealing one. I suppose Rosalind is on my list, since I've taken it for myself in some situations.

2. What is the nickname most people call you? Roz or Merry, both names I adore.

3. Do you plan to change your name when you're 18? Already there - I changed my last name (purely legal thing - changed it to what I'd been known as all along), but not my first.

4. If you could become any age you wanted, right now, what age would it be and why? Almost-twenty-two seems pretty good to me - I'll keep things how they are.

5. Why is (insert your favorite colo(u)r here) your favorite color? Can't pick, I love all colours in their proper contexts, except fluorescent anything.

6. If your first choice of careers doesn't work out, what would you choose as a "backup?" Teaching is the 'back-up' I guess, but sometimes I think it's the first choice, so it's hard to tell.

7. What holiday could you easily do without? I could do without the commercialization of any of them - I'm too traditionalist, and Santa and the Easter Bunny don't fit my equivalent holidays, so I ignore them completely. Also, right now I could do without the Fourth of July, because people in my country don't need another excuse to get annoyingly patriotic and self-righteous at the moment.

8. Assuming you have a crush on somebody, what is it exactly that you like about him/her? You know... I can't exactly call anything I have a 'crush' right now. But I love when people with what I deem impressive intelligence pay attention to my thoughts or ideas.

9. What singer or band can you imitate the best? I was once told I could do a passable impression of Mary Chapin Carpenter - a dubious distinction, admittedly.

10. If your life were a book, what genre would it be? You know 'Bridget Jones' Diary'? Is there a genre for that?

11. Do you worry about finding your soul mate and getting married? Yes.

12. If you could choose how to die, how would you? Very old, of something peaceful, with people I love all around me.

FAVOURITES

Type of chocolate: Dark chocolate with pecans. Or peppermint.

Eye color: A girl in my highschool had eyes that could honestly be called amber, and I thought that was the coolest thing ever, because it was so unusual. I like all colors, though.

Dog breed: Australian shepard mix. I don't like purebreds (too many health problems), but I love that breed.

Period in history: Victorian England, or the Viking era.

Word to use when you want to sound smart: I honestly never notice these things until I'm in the right context.

Candle scent: Mexican cocao.

Method of communication (in person, telephone, etc): In person. Failing that, livejournal.

Language: English, Old English, French, Icelandic, Gaelic... granted I only speak two of those, but I love all of them.

Famous painting: Gah, ummm... my mind is suddenly blank of paintings that I know the name of. I love Manet, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Starry Night by Van Gogh, and... oh! Titian's Man with a Glove. Random, I know.

Weather: Sunny but not too hot - kind of May or early-June weather - or autumn, when it's cool but not freezing, and all the trees are losing their leaves.

Summer activity: Hiking and the occasional boat trip out on really choppy water on a warm day.

Winter activity: Walking in the cold when I'm very bundled up and cozy.

Computer game: Hmm. I like word games?

Boredom-buster: Reading, or drawing.

Newspaper comic: I really liked Calvin and Hobbes.

Section in a bookstore: Mythology/folklore, or the sci-fi fantasy or new literature.

EITHER/OR

Elvis or Madonna? Madonna.

Green or red? Umm.... green, but I like both.

Sci-fi thriller or trashy romance? That would highly depend. I'm guessing... the thriller.

Martial arts or yoga? Yoga. I want to try martial arts someday, though.

Lollipop or Hershey's Kiss? Lollipop.

When you sleep, bedroom door open or closed? Closed.

Jacket or sweatshirt? Jacket.

Radio or CDs? CDs. I don't listen to the radio very often.

Recliner chair or cushion on the floor? Cushions!

Bunk bed: top or bottom? Top.

Handwriting or typing? Depends. I type more often, though.

Chicken Soup: The kind with big pieces of chicken and vegetables.

Ballet or jazz? Eh... depends. Probably ballet, but the last time I went to 'a ballet', I fell asleep.

IMAGINED SITUATIONS

1. If babies could talk at birth, what do you think would be the first thing they say? "Put me back!"

2. If you could read minds, would you enjoy knowing what people were thinking, or would breaching their privacy bother you? Would you consider it a burden to know everyone's innermost thoughts? You know, I don't think anyone really wants to know people's innermost thoughts. Maybe the outermost. But my own innermost thoughts are weird enough for me, thanks.

3. Do you think you could survive in the Middle Ages? I would have been one of those girls who was considered well-nigh useless because of her eyesight, but yeah, I would've done fine other than that. Assuming I didn't die shortly after birth, of course.

4. If you knew as a little kid what you know now, what one situation would you choose to do differently? You know how Hermione is, when we first 'meet' her in the first book? Yeah. That was me. Except not quite enough of a genius to pull it off. So yes, I'd do a lot differently.

5. If you were given the choice to know exactly when, how, and where you would die, would you choose to know? And if you did choose to know, would you try and cheat death? Yes, and yes.

6. If you got pregnant (guys, just play along) before you were ready, what would you do? Would you ask your parents for help, or keep it from them? Get rid of it. No one has the right to bring a child into the world if they know they're not ready to care for it properly and want it. No kid deserves to be unwanted.

7. Do you think you would enjoy being the opposite sex for the rest of your life? What would be so enjoyable/hellish about it? I have no concept of how I would be as a guy, but since 50% of the population handles it just fine, I'm guessing I could, too.

8. If someone came up with an elixir that made you immortal, would you take it? If you would, what would you do with all the extra time? Immortal, or immortal and un-aging? I've read my mythology, I know where the loop-holes are in this sort of thing. I'd take it if it was the latter. And with the extra time... I'd live, of course.

9. Does the thought of being a vampire appeal to or disgust you? The romanticized idea has an appeal, but it's not a life I'd actually want to live, I don't think.

10. If you were given magickal powers to do just one thing, what would you do (besides giving yourself unlimited magickal powers)? I don't believe in 'magick', or any other intentional misspelling.

11. If you could go back into history and change one thing only, what would you change? What do you think the repercussions of the change will be? I'm with [livejournal.com profile] lovelies on this one: I would smother Constantine in his crib and hope for the best. I'm sure something awful would probably come of it, but it certainly would be interesting to see what happened....

My neck seems to be back to normal. I cannot express how happy I am about this. *Makes a big show of stretching and angling head different ways* Yay!

Australian shepard mix.

hee! I actually have a pureblood Aussie. She looks more like a border collie though (think the dog from Babe). They're very sweet dogs and very well behaved. My dad says he kind of wishes the dog wasn't smarter than us though! ;D

We had an Aussie/Blue Merle type mix for a while - she was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known. She did definitely have the tendency to try to run things on her terms, though! And watching her try to herd the cats was always good for a laugh. XD

heh, yeah, Sydney (my Aussie) would always try to herd me and my friends when we were younger. And once we took her to visit my mom's best friend, who lived on a ranch in West Virginia. Sydney had never seen cattle before, but she took one look at their cows, dashed under the fence and started to herd them. She put the cattle in a straight line and even separated them by color. It was pretty funny.

Wow, I guess it really is in the blood. Obviously Marley never made much progress with the cats, so I never knew if it was just that they *try* instinctively, or that they instinctively *can*. ;)

I was wondering where that icon of yours is from. The picture looks familiar to me, but I'm not sure if I'm right about who it is ... ^^

It's from Peter Pan, so if you were thinking Jason Isaacs, you were right. ;D The icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] shinken, who has actually seen Peter Pan. I haven't seen the new version, but I liked the icon.

At some point I really need to see that movie. If only because I know seeing Jason Isaacs in it (twice over!) will make me laugh.

That's why I want to see it. At this point, I'm only going to see GoF if he's in it.

*Laughs* Yeah, I know what you mean. Although I admit, I'm curious to see how Ralph Fiennes pulls of Voldemort... he's a good actor, although not at all who I would have cast in that role.

Yes! I *knew* it! I saw that movie, it was ... really lame, actually, but I was just drooling over Lucius Jason Isaacs the entire time.
