And now I see that ten states have apparently passed additions to their state constitutions banning gay marriage. Charming. Please, Oregon, uphold my faith in the higher wisdom of the northern coastal states and don't do it.

Maybe now would be a good time to consider looking up schools in BC and Europe to apply to for grad school in a few years, rather than staying here. Hmm... financial aid versus living in a nation that doesn't literally make me ill. Tough call.

I wish I could boycott my colonial American lit class in protest. Instead, I think I'll just drink and listen to Les Miserables.

This is proof that I really do hate the majority of people in this country.

Don't do it! In a few years, Bush'll be gone. And even if another Republican (shudder) is elected, he'll have to be better by default! That said, do you think we can put a ban on stupid midwest states to stop them from voting?

I have a plan (always a bad sign, with me): First, we announce to all the former Confederate states that, after an appropriate waiting period, we've decided they were right after all - they should leave.

Once they've been kicked out, we remove the midwest along with them (splitting Washington right down the mountains, as it should be), and then somehow fuse together the northern coasts - Boston and Seattle would be neighbours, and the entire middle area would be it's own stupid nation, elsewhere.

When I was growing up in Eastern Washington, I heard a lot of mumblings about the state of Cascadia or Columbia. Essentially, the plan was to split Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon and Northern Idaho off into a state that was free from those "communist liberal west-siders". It doesn't matter that the resulting state would have fewer public resources than Alabama and a literacy rate comparable to a community of carnies, these guys were all about creating a government-free, dust-bowl, sagebrush, high-plains, utopia.

Sounds pretty damned good to me - I say we give them the go-ahead and laugh our asses off at them when they realize they won't be feeding off of us here on this side of the mountains anymore.
