Yeah, that's right. We've got Sam Gamgee! He may look young, but Sean Astin is a Hollywood veteran. In There and Back Again, he takes readers on his journey as an actor from child star to the 18 months he spent playing devoted friend and guide to Frodo Baggins in the massively popular Lord of the Rings movies. Sure, a lot has been written about the movie, but admit it. You want more! Tickets are available exclusively at University Book Store and are free with the purchase of There and Back Again; otherwise tickets are $5. Seating is limited.Tickets will be available starting November 12.
And Thursday, December 9, 7pm
"An Evening with Alan Lee"
Slide Show & Discussion
Univeristy District Store
Alan Lee is the quintessential illustrator for the fantasy novels of J.R.R. Tolkien, the quintessential British fantasy author. That's why Peter Jackson tapped him to be the art director on the Lord of the Rings films. Join him on December 9 for a slide show and discussion of his life and work.
GOD FRIGGING DAMN MY WORK. I WANT TO GO TO THE ALAN LEE ONE!!!!! ALAN LEE - HERE!!!! I would be willing to get out of work (seriously... for this, I would do it) if anybody else is willing to go and wade through the lines with me. Ohmigod. I'm iffy on the Sean Astin one, but the Alan Lee..... that man's artwork makes me want to fall down and worship the ground he walks on. I want to see him. I want to hear him talk. I want to try (desperately!) to get my copy of Fellowship signed by him.
Dragon's Pen people... NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL IN FAVORS WITH U-BOOKS!!!!!!!! We are the Science-fiction/fantasy writer's club, sure, but if there's ANY chance we could get even the slightest connection to either of these.... *Dies*

Date: 2004-11-16 09:19 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm not hugely fond of the 'oo, look, now I'm writing a ludicrous tie-in book" thing, so it's a no-go for me.
