As predicted, we wrote an essay in Colonial American lit on Tuesday. Guess I know what I'll be doing this evening when I get home... or maybe tomorrow? I'll have to check the syllabus to see what our grace period for make-up essays is. At least I'm caught up through Friday on readings for that class. The bad news is that I have a final project and a group project both due next Thursday, and the final project will require transcription of some conversation. I really need to find that damned tape recorder, or borrow one from someone else. And then there's the 20 page English paper I haven't really started yet, due the Tuesday after next (technically it's due Thursday with no penalty, but that would mean I wouldn't get any comments on it, and I want the comments). Yeah, I'm pretty much screwed.
The good news is, we had wonderful West African food in English today - hibiscus juice, and two kinds of rice with sweet potato, cassava, carrots, peanut sauce.... mmmmmmm. I'm stuffed, now. Still looking forward to my leftover turkey soup for dinner, though.
I bought Theoden a new collar yesterday, because the first one I bought him kept coming up and getting caught on his jaw when he'd wash his chest (which he does often because he's a vain little boy), and all the cat collars at PetCo had little jingle bells on them. You know, like to warn birds that the cat is coming. I didn't even think about it, because you always see cat collars with bells on, but as soon as I got it on him, he started freaking out trying to figure out where the jingling was coming from. It was hilarious - poor kitty, sitting up on his back legs and waving his paws like he was trying to grab the bell, or washing himself and then stopping and looking shocked every time the bell rang. Poor Theo. He finally seemed to be getting used to it, after a few hours, and he LOVES his new toys that we bought him. Fey got him a little hedgehog that you pull the string on and it jitters and wiggles, and I bought him one of those little kitty fishing poles with the tassel and bell at the end. We had a blast making him run in circles trying to catch the tassel last night.
ETA: I love how I can be going along feeling completely normal and then suddenly have the sensation that I'm drowning in stress. It's not even that bad - it's just the complete fear of letting something important drop and messing up majorly, and I start to feel like I'm going to choke. Argh.
No panic, though. That was just me needing to write that, not any actual really serious problems. Just the usual end-of-the-quarter panicking, with a few healthy side-doses of other stuff. Whee.

Date: 2004-12-02 05:26 pm (UTC)Oh, and as a suggestion - we sort of adopted a kitty not that long ago ourselves and Sparky just got him a dog collar. It's a small one, like for a chihuahua sized dog, but it's a rolled, reddish leather one that looks very dignified, won't get tangled in long hair, and doesn't get ratty like the nylon ones. Also, no silly cat bells! Though we did get a custom tag for the collar and it makes a very small jingle sound, but it's much less annoying than a cat bell, IMHO. :3

Date: 2004-12-02 05:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, the first collar Theoden had was a chihuahua collar, but nylon. If he gets this one stuck in his mouth like he did the old one, I'll have to try the leather like you suggested - it's so scary when he does that, and I don't know how he'd get out of it if no one's home with him. At least he doesn't have the tag along with the bell - the tags they give at the animal shelter are the kind you slide onto the collar itself, so it doesn't jingle at all.

My Dad has one I think if you need to borrow it. Just let me know, ok? I'll be up somtime this weekend probably, to give Fey the package that came for her and pick up the library book she has up there. When is the best time for me to come up? Friday evening, or sometime Sunday is best for me I think, but let me know and we can work something out. Let me know as soon as possible so if you need the recorder, I can get it from him before I come up.
Hope your Thursday evening group is nice to you tonight!
Love ya!
