Forgive me, people who will be insulted by this, but no - "Enterprise" should not be saved. No, Star Trek is no longer about "tolerance and hope." It stopped being about that when you decided that a primary drawing-power of this latest series was strangely slutty Vulcans in tight outfits, and "decontamination" scenes (in the first fecking episode) that pointlessly sexualize the characters before we even get to know them. No, I haven't seen much of it - I've seen about a total of one episode, honestly, because I just can't bear to actually watch it. It hurts. It combines everything I hate about just about other Star Trek series, and adds a few new ones, to boot.

Casting Scott Bakula was another mistake, but I won't get into that.

I have never agreed with UPN's policies before, but on this one, I stand with them - it needs to END. Let the franchise die, please. It's had a long run, but I'm sick of the tripe it's been putting out the last few years. I loved it in my day - I still love the stuff from the old days. But this is just getting ridiculous.

Paul Allen... if you pay up money to keep this thing on the air, I will be so very sad to share my beautiful city with you. So. Sad. Look at it this way - if it dies, you can buy more props for your wonderful museum. And then, the next time I visit it, I can bitch about those props taking up space that would be better served by series that didn't hearken back to the bad old days of Trek that focused on sex, bad acting, and lack of continuity.

These are the days when I'm ashamed to say "yes, I was once a Star Trek fan."

Also, fuck Livejournal with a pineapple. What good is an online journal if you can't update or comment on anything without it saying "oh, sorry, not right now" every single damned time?????

Glad you enjoyed. I love venting. ;)

And oh, how ironic - once again, it refused to post the first time because it's on read-only mode. *Throws a small fit*

J Micheal Strazinski wants to take over and make his own Star Trek series. He's been trying to get Paramount to sign him on. And I hope to god he gets it, because if anyone can saze Star Trek, it's him.

I don't know much about him (in that I never watched B5), but what I've heard has been good. If he can get them to sign him, more power to him, and I'd be willing to give whatever he put out at least a fair trial. Enterprise, however, needs to go. ASAP, preferably.

He hates Enterprise. Enterprise is the whole reason he wants to do this. As a Star Trek fan, he's pissed off at what it's become and wants to go back to what it's all about. He's an amazing director and writer, and I think he'd do something damn good with it.

Enterprise must die.

If he hates Enterprise, I get the sense that he and I will get on juuuust fine. And yes. It must. I'm half tempted to write a letter to UPN asking them to cancel Enterprise, to try to counter-balance the people who are writing to beg to keep it on.

I used to love Star Trek, and I never watched Enterprise. I feel that that is probably a good thing :)
I love DS9 best I think, though TNG is still my first love

Ahh, a wise woman. Yes, it's good that you managed to completely avoid Enterprise.

And a big old *squee* over you liking DS9 best - it's always been my favorite, too.

Also, your icon makes me very happy and nostalgic.
