I think I've hit that point where there's so much stuff to do that I just kind of freeze and can't seem to make myself do a damned fucking thing of any use.

I've done the dishes. I've snuggled the cat. I've chatted on AIM. I've gone over my friends-list about five times for anything worth reading, and I'm hovering over the games like a vulture that sees roadkill.

I really really really REALLY need to work on my papers.

.... but first I need some tea. Or something. God-fucking-damned-fucking-sonofabitchclasswork.

I feel your pain

That's where I've been this week with grading. And I pretty much just got the big stuff done by staying for 15hours yesterday. I decided to screw the small stuff...most of my kids won't really be helped all that much by it being there on this report anyway.

Good to know it's the same thing no matter which side of the desk you're on, I guess. ;)

And congrats on the proper tormenting of cheater-students, by the way. The conversation you posted was delightful.

Why thank you! I think it's actually worse on this side of the desk...probably not at the college level, but at HS it's bad because you dread looking at the papers, since there are some that are bound to be just BAD.

I actually feel bad for my 4th period class. They didn't get quality feedback on their essays b/c I was just Getting Them Graded. So they know if it's bad and a *Very* brief idea of why, but they only got abut 25% of my normal feedback. Not that most of them don't skip the feedback and go straight to the grade anyways.

I know the feeling. We did peer reviews in my poetry class last week and one of the papers was kind of... erm... Some of the writing made my brain hurt. I think she was ESL, but that didn't make it any easier to try to pin-point what was going wrong and explain it to her.

That happens, I'm sure. Hell, even on college essays I've had times when I get back just a few little margin comments and a grade. *Shrugs* You can't be expected to write a dissertation on the merits (or lack thereof) of each and every essay for every class, every time.

Some of the writing made my brain hurt That's it exactly. It's one thing if a paper has some things that need to be worked on. It's another if you don't even know where to start.

Heh. I remember one of my high school teachers would write single-word comments..."good" and check-marks next to the main points. Not very helpful, but man, his grading time must have been cut way down.
