It's really weird to go back to one's highschool. Yeah, it's only been three and a half years, but everything looks exactly the same, and I felt... I dunno. It just felt strange. Especially going to a play there - I had a sensation of 'what am I doing going to a play here? I'm supposed to be backstage, not in the auditorium!' Didn't help a lot that we ended up on one of the far edges of the auditorium, so I could see straight backstage, into the wings that haven't changed a bit since the last time I was back there. And two of the posters I designed were right above our seats.

So now I'm listening to soundtracks from the old musicals, and looking through my yearbooks.

Just plain bizarre.

Thanks for coming with me, I had a good time. The play was so-so, but the company was great, and it was so nice to see Katherine and the kids again.
I can't believe how big Anna has gotten, she'a a little adult!

Oh, and in case you've forgotten, don't forget to turn your clock one hour ahead before you go to bed tonight! (Momness, sorry!)

Thank you, it was really fun!

Isn't she adorable? *Loves Anna* She's such a cute exact half-and-half mixture of her mom and her dad.

I have a bizarre feeling that I could have found all of my old classrooms and stuff with no trouble at all. o.O At one point, some of the girls from the show exited out a side door, and [livejournal.com profile] narsilion commented about how cold it was outside... and without even thinking about it, I pictured the exact route they'd take to get inside and backstage again and said "no, it's a quick jog back inside."

Clearly, it hasn't been long enough. ;)

I can't remember half of my teacher's names, nor the inner layout, or where my lockers would have been. I hated high school with a passion, did not spend more time there than I had to, and cut ties with it as soon as I graduated. I really didn't even have friends there. Each day I waited for the bell to ring and drove to the neighboring town where my real friends lived.

The only reason I went back was to order a transcript for my college transfer.

I'm not bitter. Just disengaged ;)

I hated parts of highschool, but I loved a few parts enough that the memories are good ones. And I guess I'm detached enough now that I can look back with dispassionate fondness... except actually being there and seeing a lot of kids I could clearly label as the type who would have hated me kind of made me nervous.

*Shrugs* Further proof that I shouldn't teach highschool, at least until I'm a good deal older.
