more drabbles!
Apr. 24th, 2005 09:24 pmFor
the_rocklobster, who requested something melancholy and shippy with Harry and Luna. In my own defense, I don't write either of those characters much... but I did what I could!
...And I have no idea where the title came from, either.
Maybe it was because he actually listened to what she said, rather than just writing it off as "loony Luna" being at her usual tricks. Maybe it was because he actually seemed concerned when people 'lost' her things for her. Maybe it was because he saw Thestrals. Most likely, though, maybe it was because he knew what it was like to be on the outside - maybe better, even, than the girl in the mirror with radishes for earrings.
It wasn't necessarily less lonely with him. But they could say they both knew things weren't so ordinary as they seemed.
Now that I'm getting used to it, I'm really starting to like drabbles as a format for writing. It's amusing, to see how much I can get across in 100 words. *Eyes the rest of f-list* I promise I won't make you all put up the meme yourselves - I just want more prompts!

Date: 2005-04-25 04:51 am (UTC)'Cause, you know, anything's better than studying for my midterm tomorrow.First Time
“You’re joking, right?”
“Not at all.” Hermione tucked her hair behind her ear, still not looking up at Ginny.
“He fell asleep on you??”
“It happens, Ginny. They get tired after.”
“But… you said it was only a few minutes!”
Hermione looked up from her book and squinted, thinking. “Eight, I think.”
“And it was…?”
“Not large. But that’s not the point.”
Ginny snorted. “Obviously not. I dunno, ‘Mione. Maybe you should have stuck with wizarding blokes. At least they know charms to make things better…”
Hermione shook her head at her red-haired friend. “Tell me that again after yours.”

Date: 2005-04-25 05:00 am (UTC)And I'm sorry if you don't like Narcissa - she demanded to be involved in this as well.
The Test
“You’re late, darling.”
Lucius froze in the doorway. His bride of less than a month stood at the top of the stairs, and he was covered in muck and blood. This was not good. “Narcissa…”
Her robe floated around her as she approached and daubed a finger across his robes. It came away dripping red. “Is this yours?”
“No.”
“Indeed?” Narcissa trailed the finger down his chest, wiping the blood from her finger. “Then you did have a busy night.”
“You have no idea, darling,” he murmured approvingly. “Run me a bath, and I shall tell you all about it.”

Date: 2005-04-25 05:22 am (UTC)Hermione's one of those characters who comes very easily for me.
Apparently her partners come easily too. *wink*
(You knew I wouldn't be able to resist that, didn't you?)

Date: 2005-04-25 06:12 am (UTC)Yeah, I realized what I'd said as soon as I posted the comment. *g*
As for Narcissa... because we're given hardly anything on her from canon, it's easy to take her any number of possible directions in writing or RPing. I play Narcissa in games as both an adult and a teenager, and I admit both of them are more on the soft side. Little Cissa especially is a bit of an innocent... but she's still a Black, and she's a conniving and selfish girl sometimes, and prone to being a complete shrew if she doesn't get her way, even though she'd love to think she's all sweetness and proper behaviour. And although twists of plot have prevented them being together, now, I always know that if Ciss had seen what Lucius did for the DE, she'd have been appalled... and then gone right along with it because that's who she is, and she's pinned everything on him. When it comes right down to it, only certain people really count, to her.
Adult Cissa is... tired. Tired of fighting with her sister, tired of worrying about her husband, and now her son, as they fight for Voldemort, tired of trying to keep on the good side of people she knows would just as well see them all dead, and playing the good society wife on top of it all. But she's still a Slytherin, she'd still do anything and hurt anybody to take care of her priorities, and she's devoted to Lucius to the end, despite everything. She's had chances to turn her back on everything and do the 'right thing,' but she'd never do it unless it was the only way to protect her children.

Date: 2005-04-25 01:29 pm (UTC)Well, since I don't write (well, anyway) I wasn't going to give you a prompt, but since I can prompt and not have to participate, WHEE.
I would love you to write a fluffy, fun, romantic drabble with Amy/Methos.
