rivendellrose: (garak/bashir)
I've been working on coloring things in GIMP. It started out with a lovely bit of fan-art that [livejournal.com profile] maho_kiwi made for my birthday last year (sooo pretty!), and once I realized that it worked, I started messing around a bit more. Eventually, I got brave enough to try it with something of my own.

It's easier to make something really look good colored if it really looked good to begin with, so naturally Meggie and Jessie's stuff that I've played with looks better. ;) But this one's mine, so I feel okay showing it off a little bit.

So... everybody here knows that I love Garak, right? )

Also... why can't I get LJ scrapbook to show me a direct-link URL for images? I'm sick of having to upload shit to my many GJ accounts just to show the picture here!

In case anyone was wondering about that whole Serenity/Equality Now thing...

Here's an update, including the preliminary dollar amounts that various showings are sending to Equality Now. I'm so proud of my fandom.

Contra went well last night, and today I ran into a friend from that group, Katie, at the farmer's market. Yay for meeting people I know. I bought spinach, radishes, and a little carton of blissfully summery strawberries. Ohhhh yes. I love fresh strawberries.

And that reminded me that I never updated about [livejournal.com profile] maymargaret's party last weekend! It was so fun - Whidbey Island is beautiful, and it was so comforting to be back in the green and cool country air after years spent almost exclusively in the city. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to be so far out, so quiet, with songbirds and beaches around. And the salmon berries were in season, which was a delight because you just don't see those in stores. Huckleberries, too - there weren't many this early in the year, but I managed to grab one. So tangy and bright-tasting, and there are so many memories attached to those things. I used to practically live off them during summers growing up. I'm surprised I didn't bloat out bright red with being full of them. ;)

The best part, of course, was hanging out with a friend I haven't seen in a full year, and, admittedly, listening to her parents and their friends jam out on various intstruments. So much good food, good conversation, and beautiful music - I felt very welcome and at home.
