"An Indianapolis father is appealing a Marion County judge's unusual order that prohibits him and his ex-wife from exposing their child to "non-mainstream religious beliefs and rituals.""

That kind of thing is so completely against the constitution that it boggles even my cynical and jaded mind. I cannot imagine that the man won't win his appeal, but if he doesn't... dear sweet gods.

I can't believe a judge would try to get away with something like that.

The Indianapolis Star-Tribune published an editorial denouncing the judge's decision, and their on-line poll ran 80/20 against the judge. The father has requested that the judge *not* be bombarded with e-mails, letters and phone calls at this time, since the matter is before the State Supreme Court and Judge Bradford no longer has anything to do with it.

Regardless, it's a horrible, horrible decision, and I wonder just why the judge thought he could get away with it.

That's the thing that gets me - I'm not too concerned about it in general on the basis that there's no way a state supreme court could uphold that sort of ludicrous ruling, but the mere idea that the judge thought he could do it to begin with appalls me.
