I'll have my usual, please

As usual, I overslept this morning. I cannot seem to drag myself out of bed when my alarm goes off, lately. As is quite unusual, I was so late that I missed the 10:18 bus (just barely... it was quite sad to watch it rush by as I was stuck on the other side of the street), and caught the 10:34 or something. Got to class... just in time to hear (yet again) the story of the Asatru making fools of themselves over the whole Kennewick Man situation.
Let me be clear - I have a deep fondness for the Asatru, when they avoid the stereotype of being racist neo-Aryan nation types. Which I shall yet again make clear that they are not, as a whole. It would not irritate me so much to see them make fools of themselves if I didn't feel a fondness for them. I consider them my closest kin in the pagan community at large, and have several times seriously considered hunting up a local group to poke my nose into. In the end, though, I am a solitary and probably always will be... and it's things like this that make me so. No, my dear folk, I do not believe it is at all reasonable that the Viking explorers could have made it out to Eastern Washington 9,500 years ago. Just. Not. Likely. Were the Scandinavians even building ships at that point? Had they even gotten past their own fjords?? These people pride themselves on their knowledge of history - try using that knowledge, please. And laying pine boughs on a 9.5 thousand year old skeleton? Thanks, guys. That really helps. *Headdesk*
Naturally, of course, Professor Fitzhugh was doing his best to be PC about the whole thing. By which I mean that he was snarking and then correcting himself in a very placating tone, which is worse than just snarking. I spent the first five minutes of class gritting my teeth and scowling at his slides. Especially the picture of some sort of Asatru ceremony. At that point, though, I couldn't tell whether I was scowling at Fitzhugh, or at the Asatru for being such easy targets.
I'm going to the 'ice cream social' at work, now. And then home, for lunch, homework, getting ready for a meeting tonight, and a lot of reading.
