I just now finished reading my archaeology textbook - I had a few more chapters to read than I'd realized. And I took a break in the early evening to go out with [livejournal.com profile] shadawyn and [livejournal.com profile] theladyfeylene for a bit of shopping. Bought a reasonably cheap but well-illustrated book on yoga, a new pair of headphones (since Theoden chewed the cord of my old pair so that it only worked in one ear anymore...), and a tube of that lip stain stuff that the Body Shop has. I've wanted it for a long time, so I finally caved. Also gave my hands some nice therapy with much (much much much) nice lotion, since we kept going in and out of places like the Body Shop and Bath and Body Works. Much fun was had.

Also had an intersting discussion with the housemates about random sexual kinks - chats like that are always enlightening, in this house. Honestly, the things some people get off on... it's unbelievable.

And I looked at the paperwork I got with Theoden today. I hadn't ever really taken a good look at the information on how he was originally brought in, but apparently he was picked up as a stray, a few days before my birthday (meaning he'd been at the shelter more than a month when I got him). It still boggles my mind that a cat as generally good-tempered, easy-going, and people-oriented as him ended up in Animal Control, but I suppose [livejournal.com profile] narsilion is right that he probably belonged to an older person who died, and then he maybe got out or something in all the fuss of getting their belongings dealt with. We're talking about a cat who tolerates dogs, children, being held or picked up in all sorts of undignified positions, having his belly and paws played with... he's very well-socialized, so I don't think he could possibly have been a stray for long.

Tomorrow, it's time to work on my honors thesis for a while, and also probably start on my take-home exam for anthropology. Wish I didn't have work. At least those aren't due til the end of this coming week... Hopefully I won't sleep in for quite so long tomorrow, so I can get an earlier start.

If Theoden had been MY cat and he got lost or got out and I couldn't find him, the only way I can't imagine myself calling the shelter everyday (or showing up there everyday) looking to see if he'd been picked up, is if I was no longer around. Hence, my theory.
Not necessarily right, but other alternatives just boggle my mind.
\He's so wonderful!

My feeling exactly. I would go absolutely nuts if he disappeared - everything else would stop until I found him, I think. I'd like to think the same would be true of anyone else who had him, but people can be pretty heartless sometimes.
