Have another interview today, and I think I finally figured out where the damned thing is. Now let's just hope I can get there, and get through the interview with minimal disaster.

I need to tailor my suit-jacket, but there's no time - I forgot about it until right as I was headed out the door, and didn't want to make myself late by going back for thread and needle. Anyway, I'm a wee bit nervous to do it - hemming pants is one thing, but taking in the shoulders of a suit-jacket is entirely another. It looks like it'll be easy... I'm just nervous of projects that look easy but are totally new to me.

NPR: "The president's speech was short on specifics, but long on rhetoric." *Gasp* Well, golly gosh darn, Billy-Bob - I'd never have guessed it.

Oh, and congratulations to Canada for once again making its southern neighbor look like the neighborhood's stodgy old widower sitting on his porch yelling about how disgusting and unreligious kids these dayas are, and spewing prejudiced invective about every minority who passes by. Just in time for Canada Day, too, I hear! For my part, I shall do as always, lately, and spend the Fourth of July wishing I could be proud of my country. And then go to jury duty the next day. *Sighs*

Good luck on today's interview! I agree with you on the speech, I made a point to watch a video of it at work and I was a little suprised that repeating the exact same thing you've said before, talking about 9/11 a lot, and managing to repeat the same paragraph of text rephrased for 20 minutes counts as letting the citizens of the country in on your new plan. I was hoping he might think of something concrete or new to say. And on the Canadian legislation, I wonder how much longer people here will be able to really argue that laws that lay out what should be a civil union should be based so obviously on the majority's religious preference.

As long as people claim that we'll be morally lost without the majority religious preference. Which is forever, as near as I can tell. Morality is perfect possible without an overt religious reference, most people are just too gods-damned lazy to think about it for themselves and just accept whatever some moron tells them was written.

I'm not at all in a bitter mood today, of course.

Thanks for the good wishes, I really just wish I could go home. I'm not feeling fabulously with it, today.

You were hoping that he might think of something concrete or new to say? Awww, c'mon, you know this is ole G.W.
All the moral majority wants him to do is repeat these lines, repeat these lines, make that snarky smug face that you do so well, and reapeat those lines again. ;P

Yup. That's pretty much how it works. Surprising, isn't it, how well half the country seems to accept that tactic?

Well I was hoping they might have thought of at least *one* new line. I mean I am no great optimist in terms of government, but I expected that if you are going to grab primetime space from the networks you might think of at least one new point.

Would've been nice, huh? To have something new to bitch and moan about him for. And hey, at least he didn't start in on Canada being the "New axis of evil" for allowing gays to wed! :P I suppose that's SOMETHING, yes??
