Feb. 23rd, 2003 02:46 pmWoke up at 10am this morning... and fell back to sleep. Then woke up with alarm at 11:10... and fell back to sleep. Woke up at 11:40, sat upright to prevent self from falling back to sleep. Cora opened the curtains. It was sunny. And so, I threw myself out of bed, stuffed myself into some clothes, grabbed a package of dried apricots, and ran outside to do my stupid astronomy project. After a brief return to retrieve a clock, that is, so I could actually write down the times at which I took data.
It's an odd thing to sit in the middle of a path on Denny Field, with a makeshift sundial laid out beside you and a book on the food metaphors of medieval female saints.
2.5 hours later, I stumbled back to the dorm (my legs were stiff and cold and my hands were burning with the cold air, but my back was really warm from having the sun on it), bought some soup, and dragged myself up the stairs to my room. And here I am. The data is all wrong, I think--the shortest line should've pointed directly north, but it doesn't seem to have done so at all--but I really don't care. I did it. That's what matters.
Now I just have to do everything *else*. And avoid working on the story.
