pre-weekend blitherings
Jul. 18th, 2003 10:17 pmWent out to Misty's birthday party on wednesday which was very fun. Good food, happy teasing and joking around, and I only got *sort of* lost twice on the way to the restaurant. Oh, and I fixed my keyboard before I left that day, so that's good. It's all better--yay. Hooray for clever boyfriends who think to tell me that I could take it apart and clean it out (and who are patient when I accidentally tell people that it was my roommate's idea because it was the roommate's idea to rinse out the key-part when the plain cleaning didn't work well enough).
On Thursday Derek came over for a visit, which is always wonderful. We picked up teriyaki and bubble tea and watched The Tao of Steve--a really cute movie--and had a nice long random chat about stuff. Oh, and he found the first Jean-Claude sex scene for me; Laurell K. Hamilton is a cruel woman for waiting all the way until book six to let them (and her readers...) have a bit of fun.
And then today... I haven't really done anything too impressive today except pack for July Coronation and finish the book Why Girls Are Weird. Very cute nearly-autobiographical book about a girl who starts a web-journal and ends up being exceedingly popular online, but also screwing everything up because of various lies she tells on the journal. The only disturbing part about the book was a) realizing that my journal entries are nowhere near so literary or witty as hers, and b) suddenly having the temptation to quiz and cross-examine my online friends about their lives in an attempt to discover what their lives are *really* like. It's an odd thing to talk online for hours almost every week, for months on end, with people you've never met. Very odd. I realize this probably doesn't faze most of you in the slightest, but I'm relatively new to the whole internet chatting thing, so bear with me.
On that note, Tiff had better get around to asking *she-knows-who* about meeting her for coffee or whatever. I wanna know what that chick is like in person, damnit. ;)
