Okay, I remember that someone (either zinjadu or sigelphoenix) told me that they're making a movie of The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell, starring someone I totally couldn't believe. Thing is, I tried to look into it today, to see who all is involved... and I can't find it. Searching on IMDB got me nothing, either with "The Sparrow" or with the author's name, and a quick googling of both got me no mention of an upcoming movie.

Are we sure this wasn't some crazy rumor (*hopes*), or did they perhaps really mess with the title?

Uh.... might have been. I just relayed what I'd heard from another friend of mine. I'd love it to be a horrible, horrible rumor. =D

Seems to be the case, since there's no sign of it that I could find on either IMDB or any sites about the author. So we can all be very very grateful. And hopeful. ;)

Yeah, I'm coming by, it'll just be a little later than I thought. I got the opportunity to take a few more hours than usual this afternoon, and I always try to take them when they show up.

I'm inclined to think that if it isn't on IMDB, it's either under a different name or, more likely, it was a rumor. They have freakin' EVERYTHING there.

Well, a quick google tells me that it doesn't appeart to be just a rumor, but news far far in advance. Not expected until 2010, imdb probably wouldn't list it if they could because so many projects probably fall through in the 3 years before production even starts. Oh, and Brad Pitt is scheduled to star, though apparently Antonio Banderas was condsidering it at one point. If you'd like to read for youself...

Damn, damn damn damn damn damn. At least if they'd gotten Banderas the poor character would be the right ethnicity. His background is kind of important. And I'm sorry, but I doubt Pitt can do this part justice. Damn.
