bus woes

Dear Today's Driver of the Metro Route #54:

Thank you oh so very much for making me late to my interview today. While I'm sure it was terribly important for us to sit for ten minutes at Union street downtown while you chatted up the driver of the previous run (who had already made us five minutes late, I should point out), I was unimpressed with the horrible impression you caused me to make on what might otherwise have been a lovely place of employment.

I shall also blame you for the fact that I forgot to turn off my cellphone before going in, as I was so stunned by being late that I didn't think to check it, and, thus, of course my phone went off during the interview.

You have tarnished my faith in our otherwise-wonderful public transit system.

Yeah, I was seriously pissed. I made sure the bus I took should have gotten me to my interview somewhere between fifteen minutes and half an hour early. In actuality? Five minutes late. Just enough for me to look like a total asshat. I told them what happened, but I'm sure at least one of the other four candidates will seem more reliable/qualified, after that little display. *Flails*

Yeah, it was just not a good way to start the interview. And then the cellphone thing kind of cinched it. Blargh.

Ah well. Other possibilities. Eventually someone's bound to hire me. ;)

It's not your fault, it was just my dumb luck that I forgot to turn off my phone.

:( Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Metro drivers seem to be on a customer service spree, one of the last times I was riding they kicked a woman and her very young son off the bus after she yelled at a guy who was stinking drunk for falling on her kid. If the rest of the interview went well you might not have to worry about being a tad late, it does after all happen to people all the time.

Ick, that's awful! I guess it must be the summer, with the heat and everything making them irritable, or something.
