rent on 'today'

For once in my life, I actually remembered to get up early enough and turn on the TV to watch something. The cast of the Rent movie was on the Today show this morning, so I made my tea and toast and settled myself down on the couch to see how it went over.

First off, can I say how long it's been since I've seen the Today show? Wow. It's probably been since... middle school, I'd guess. Scary stuff.

Next revelation - I had totally forgotten how gorgeous Jesse L. Martin is. And such a good singer, too. Even bigger 'Wow' for him.

Even having only seen a couple of still shots of her in her makeup from Wicked, it is remarkably easy to pick Idina Menzel out of a lineup. Also, she was well-cast as Elphaba... even when she obviously doesn't mean it to be, her neutral expression looks kind of irritated. Poor woman. And I was sad that the only female solo was for the new girl, Tina something. Not like they can help what character (and thus what actor) sings in what, but still. I wanted more Idina. *g*

Between Serenity at the end of September and this in November, it's gonna be a very movie-filled autumn!

Oh! And Happy Birthday to ellid!!!

Thanks! So far it's been quiet but nice, and I'm enjoying that. :)

And yes, Jesse L. Martin is not only gorgeous, but he has a lovely voice as well. Good thing he's on Law & Order so we can ogle him....:)

Ohhhh yes. I hadn't really seen him in anything since I quit watching Ally McBeal something like... six years ago? Something like that. Such a lovely man.

The man's voice is liquid sex. I saw him sing on Ally McBeal before I knew who he was, and even then I was like, "D00d. o_o"
