Gacked from around my f-list, out of curiosity:

1. What is the first colour that pops into your head when you think of me?
2. What element (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) do you think I am?
3. Which fictional character do I most remind you of?
4. If I were a animal, what would I be?
5. What song reminds you of me?

Despite being tired and having a kind of bitchy first hour at work, I'm feeling pretty good today. Had some nice chats with people last night, about relationships and feelings and stuff, and it cemented my recent philosophical attitude toward that whole sphere of life. Sometimes I let myself get far too caught up in the rip-tides of dissatisfaction (wow, that sounds wanky), but I really do prefer to take what comes as realistically as possible, everything on its own terms and with a view to learning from my experiences. And to let the truth be told, and own whatever is in my heart - jealousy, sorrow, love, equally and without shame. To live life unguarded - feel whatever I feel, and live in it with everything I am. I think that's the greatest goal, right now.

Claire. Lol. I hope I'm not quite as crazy as her, but I'm rather pleased to admit I can see a resemblance....

Hummingbird surprises me - I've never thought of myself as a bird person. And now I'll have to see about finding that song. Oh! Which reminds me that I still owe you the other half of your birthday present, the compilation CD you wanted! Do you prefer data format, or regular CD capable of being played in a car or whatnot?

I was thinking small and busy with the hummingbird.

Data works fine. I can burn an audio if need be :) Thanks!

Hehehehe. I thought that might be it.

Okay, cool. That's good, because I seem to recall I had a lot in mind for it. I'll hopefully do that tonight when I get home from work.

http://dar-williams.lyrics-songs.com/lyrics/43422/ Here is a set of correct lyrics. I'm not sure EXACTY why it reminds me of you (other than the paganish overtones), but you are one the people I think of when I hear it.

Ooo, I like that. Really different, but there's definitely something to it. Thank you!

1. Green
2. Air, and I know it's not on there, but Wood as well.
3. ...can I get back to you on this one? ^^;
4. A little bird of some kind. Maybe a sparrow or a mockingbird.
5. ...can I get back to you on that one, too? ^^; Hopefully I'll have better answers when I've spent more time with you! <3

You betcha to both 3 and 5 - we haven't known each other long enough, yet, to really get a good grasp on things like that! And thank you!

1. Amber. I'm not sure if you have much amber jewelry, but for some reason I imagine that you do.
2. Air.
3. Hm ... I don't really think of people this way, so I have no clue.
4. Cat, of course. :D
5. "Elsewhere," Sarah McLachlan. Part association because I know you love her, but also for the lyrics.

I only have one amber piece, that necklace that I wear a lot, but I want more. It's one of my favorite stones.

I'm either a cat or a small bird, it seems - I appreciate the irony in that. ;)

Mmm... "Elsewhere" is one of my old favorites. I need to listen to that again. Thanks!

Also, what you wrote at the bottom of the entry? Beautifully said, but also just "yes." I used to hold back a lot (still do, ugh) but I figure, if it's not hurting other people, what's wrong with feeling and even expressing frustration, impatience, envy, anger? I try to stifle it, be "mature," I guess, but what's the point? I think you can regret feelings you don't experience just as much as actions you don't take. Why not feel it, live it, learn from it?

I'm glad it made sense to you, I was a bit worried after the fact that I'd just ventured off into the realm of insane emo-ish rambling. ;)

I try to be realistic about the way I feel. Yeah, sometimes the feelings are stupid, sometimes they're totally petty, and sometimes I take them way too far... but a lot of times they're something that needs to be let out, acknowledged, and then left by the wayside. I definitely know you can regret feelings you haven't let out - I've done a bit of that in the last few years, I think, and I'm trying to avoid it and make up for it now.

1. Pink (because you're Rose and you're pink on my flist)
2. Earth or Air. Can't decide
3. Jesse from The Vampire Chronicles series. She's young and fiesty and a scholar.
4. I'm thinking a small land mammal. Like a prairie dog.
5. Hmm don't really have a song though. Sorry!

Interesting. One of these days I'll have to actually read The Vampire Chronicles. I got off to a really awful start in them and never touched them again, but everyone tells me the earlier books are really good.

Thanks!

Don't read Interview with the Vampire. See the movie. Because the book is slllooooowww and whiny and most of the beginning is useless to the essential plot. Then you can go ahead and read the rest of the books. I happen to like almost all of them (except the last one). Jesse doesn't come in until Book Three (Queen of the Damned) Oh, and whatever you do, don't see the movie version of QotD. It's...the worse book-to-movie adaptation ever.

I've seen the movie of Interview, and it was really good. Yay for Tom Cruise doing evil. And I'd heard many bad things already about the movie of QotD, so I will most certainly be avoiding that one. ;)

1. Pale peach
2. Air
3. I always have so much trouble with this... the characters I think of you aren't familiar with.
4. Cat
5. I have to pick just one? ;) 'Arms of the Angel', by Sarah Mclaughlin.

That's really the tricky thing, finding characters. And thank you.

Out of curiousity, which characters were you thinking of?

The one that comes immediately to mind is Egwene Al'Meara, from the Wheel of Time series. She's very practical, she's very intelligent, can be a little bit bossy, and she's very ambitious but she tends to get frustrated very easily and to get too caught up in the little things. She also usually ends up being pulled in various directions and at a loss as to which way to go.

1. Light, lush green of new leaves or grass.
2. Fire.
3. Ann pegged it, Claire. Not quite as crazy, but close. XP
4. A rat terrier. Small, but tough and your bark is worse than your bite.
5. "Ice Cream" by Sarah McLachlan, cause it just kinda fits in my head, you know?

Mmm... I love that color.

Good thing I like Claire, despite her craziness...

Rat terrier, really? That's hilarious. Everyone else has pretty much been bird, bird, bird, cat, cat, cat... dog. You just had to be different, didn't you? ;)

3. ... Kagura. From Fruits Basket. I MEAN.
4. A cat. A fussy little Siamese-mix. 8D
5. "Popular," 'cos you always keep bringing it up when we talk. XD

Remind me, which one is Kagura?

I can't help it, I love that damned song! I may identify more with Elphaba, but her songs are too hard to sing, whereas Galinda is pretty easy to sing along with. *g*
