I was going to wait until the 18th to post this, but... he was being cute this morning.

A year ago yesterday, a big, buff blond boy reached out, tapped my arm, and gave me a "hey, babe - let's you and me get out of this dump together" look. It was love at first sight, even if we didn't actually see each other again until later that week.

He's a bit less the strong-and-silent type, nowadays, and more the "where's mah dinner?!" sort, and a bit too prone to climbing on my shelf to pull down things he thinks are toys or testing my patience by putting his paws on the kitchen table, but every relationship has its sticking points, right?

Yup, it'll officially be a year on the 18th. We started moving stuff on the weekend of the 11th, but we weren't all the way finished until the weekend before Thanksgiving.

It really does... unbelievable.

Oh, big monster fluffball! I love big monster fluffballs. :)

Both my lads came from a shelter. Ezra was three years old, and considered less adoptable because of his shyness, so the shelter folks were thrilled when I took him home. Spooky was this scrawny little kitten who walked right into my lap, curled up and went to sleep. The big monster fluffball stage came a few months later, when he just seemed to explode in plushtoyitude.

Theo had been at the shelter for a month when I got him, and problems with the lady running the front desk at the shelter (not to mention them moronically listing him on the online info as being 7, when his real sheets listed him as only 2 or 3) almost prevented us getting him. I was majorly depressed until we finally decided to just go back and get him if he was still there, everything else be damned.

I'd looked at other cats in the mean-time, but the only other one who grabbed me (literally - he crawled into my lap and rubbed on my chin the instant I met him) was a lovely, dignified old black boy who couldn't live with dogs. I still feel bad for leaving him, but at the time we had a big, hyper dobie-shepherd mix, so it wouldn't have been a good home for him, and Theo and I were obviously meant to be.

And just earlier this evening, he lived up to his name and almost killed Housemate-E. XD It was a thing of beauty, him rollin over and over as she desperately tried to avoid squashing him. XD

I seriously think he associated you with the dog, and that's why he didn't get along with you. It's the only thing I can think of.

I know, I can't either. But at the same time it feels like we've been there forever - I feel like I can barely remember the old apartment or any of that. That's usually the way my mind works, though.
