something shiny

For you Firefly-fan folks out there, here's something interesting:

Some fandom folks have created a very shiny new Virtual Season - and the first episode was posted today!

I'm still questioning a couple of details, but so far this looks like a really interesting way of moving onward from "Objects in Space," bringing in a few of the details and bits from Serenity, and still going in original and interesting directions, leading up to the movie... and then, if their plans pan out, continuing on after! My understanding is that this will be going on for a while, with one new written 'episode' posted every two weeks.

Take a look, and I'd love to hear what people think!

I thought the story itself was good, but I didn't like the characterization. Nobody seemed themselves to me.

I had some issues with that, too. I actually thought most of the characterization was okay, but Zoe... oh, Zoe. That just did not read right to me at all.

Zoe was definitely off, and I found myself mentally changing dialogue that just didn't sound right to me. Think I'll keep an eye on this anyway, though, just to see how it develops. Looks promising!

This is interesting. I might go on reading it, although I do have an issue with some of the plot points. I don't think Mal would kill Simon over something River said, especially after she took it back, and I don't see why he was so angry at Inara for not telling him she'd had a doctor's appointment one time. Was that supposed to be because he was jealous because, like Jayne said, Simon (maybe) saw Inara naked? Which, since he's a trauma surgeon, not a GP or gyno, he probably didn't?
Still, it's pretty well-written, and I never say no to IC Firefly fic. Thanks for the tip!
