I have a new enabler.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin, who linked me to TwizTV's transcript site. Not only does it have transcripts for the unaired episodes (unlike the other site I'd been using), but they purport (and, to all indications that I can determine, actually are) the honest-to-god scripts. I'm beginning to figure out a few things I'd previously assumed were fandom invention... as well as unearthing all sorts of fun little things that will hopefully turn into bunnies of the toothy and clingy sort.

All sorts of interesting little tidbits.... *Sighs* I'm sure there will be links to the better little bits later. Edit: Yeah, I know - I said later. But... dude!!!

ZOE
(curious)
What happens if you got an
appointment coming and you ain't
finished the one you're at?

INARA
Overbooking is a cardinal sin.
Clients must feel the experience is
timeless. Only thing worse is a
badly faked fall.

ZOE
See, that's where me and
Companionship part ways. I never
could work the notion of pretending
a man was gettin' it done when he
wasn't.

INARA
So you've never pretended to fall.

ZOE
Well, never is a strong word...
sometimes it's easier.

INARA
What about with Wash?

ZOE
One time. Poor boy was bone-tired...

INARA
And?

ZOE
He knew. Son of a bitch called me on
it.

INARA
That's the one you marry.

ZOE
Damn right.

SNIP: tiny bit later in same convo:

ZOE
< Don't worry. > [FAHNG-sheen.] I got
his back. Captain starts thinking
with his < dangly piece of flesh > [JAN-
doh duh ee-KWAI-ro], I'll step in.

I'm at the point where if the few tiny little add-ins aren't legit, I really don't care. They feel right, though.

*Coughs and looks exceedingly shifty* Of course... I'm not really digging through scripts. I'm doing my online reading for my class. Of course.

Ya know, the Firefly people should take a hint from the Simpsons people.

The simpsons fans find out on what the episode titles are for the next season (or in some cases two) by checking with the copyright office. If any of these script titles show up in the copyright office, you know they're valid.

And yeah, you can search it online.

Oh, the episodes are entirely valid. That's not the issue in the slightest -there were only ever 15 episodes, and I've seen them all. It's a matter of tiny bits of dialogue that didn't make the aired cuts - same thing happened with the movie, and those bits made it into the official visual companion...

I'll stop geeking at you, now. ;)

aaaahhhh I thought you were looking at scripts that were never filmed.

Nope! There's only been one of those to crop up, and it kind of made me go "erm.... probably not?" Might be amusing to check as you suggested, though. :)

Oh man, that would have been an awesome conversation to see. I wonder why they cut it -- if they thought it was too risque, or something else.

Interestingly, I read a fic once that said Companions weren't supposed to 'fall' at all -- something about maintaining control and being all about the client's pleasure. I just think that's silly, though. Why make a living having sex if you're not allowed to enjoy it? :P

I know! I bet it just went too long... so sad that they cut it. I guess it could be about sexual references, but I really sort of doubt it...

I read that fic, too, and I totally didn't buy it. They choose their own clients, and they seem (from what we see) to genuinely enjoy their work. I definitely think they're allowed to have their fun, so long as it doesn't interfere with giving the client what they want.

Oh. And I thought you'd appreciate that the script for "The Message" says that in the hubbub of Jayne opening the package from his mama, Inara takes a small, squarish box and hides it away in her robes. I'll have to go back to determine whether they filmed it and it's just really hard to see, or if it got scrapped entirely. More layers of mystery...

*snicker* Those are the bits and pieces that I've always been sure were there for Inara- the parts of her that just weren't shown, but were implied. Although now that I think about it, there's really not much shown in canon where it's Inara interacting with individuals from the crew that aren't Mal. It seems to be either groups, or Mal-and-someone-else, or just Mal.

That, or I'm misremembering. Hmm.

That's definitely been something I noticed, as well. She does interact with other characters, but it's always in small little bits that we don't see very often.

She has a few good interactions with Simon (like in "Safe" and "Out of Gas"), a few with River (off-hand, I can think of the bit in "Bushwacked"), and of course Kaylee. But "Trash" is the only episode I can think of where Inara and Zoe even share a moment's conversation without the rest of the crew being involved as well.

...*Spends too much time on all of this, really*

Ha! XD Like everybody else, I would have loved to see that conversation.

Also, awesome to know Wash is good in bed. *snerk* Only can't do it when he's absolutely exhusted. Go him. =D

I know. The image of the two of them interacting like this... just too damned fun. XD

I thought you'd appreciate that. I especially like that he called her on it. ;)

I'm always sad that part was cut - I like it quite a bit, and Inara and Zoe don't really interact in canon much. Have you seen http://www.fireflywiki.org/ ? So so helpful, especially the scripts and ship blueprints.

I've seen the blueprints, but I'd never seen the scripts! So many wonderful little bits of dialogue that I wasn't expecting...

Wish I'd had this one a month ago:

MAL
Is it christmas?

ZOE
Yes, sir, it's christmas. That
special night when Nick the Saint
comes down your chimney, changes your
course, blows out the navcom, seals
the bridge and takes off in your
shuttle.

Why! Why did they have to cut that? That would have been one of the most wonderful scenes in the series!

I know! It would have been just so totally adorable!

I'll post other bits as I come across them, eventually. There's some really fun little tidbits all through here. ;)
