I don't really remember much difference, but that's probably because I don't have an older version to compare too, here ^^ It looks nice though.
..what sort of image file did you save it as? You seem to be getting a bit of pixelation around the text, which is most common in jpg format. You may want to try saving it as a png file, if that doesn't make it too large. It does for image quality and smoothness what jpg does, and it does for text what a gif accomplishes. Win!
The original was a lot darker, used a bit of soft light and a couple layers to get the right effect with the colors, and the text was... well, even worse in the original, to be honest. Is that the trick? I'd been trying to figure out why my text always looked weird, no matter what I did with the size! *Glomps* Thank you! I'll fix that right away when I get home, so I don't forget!
It is an awesome feeling when you defeat a screencap and make a cool icon out of it, ne? ^^ You cannot foil me with your darkness! I make you pretty! Muahahah!
I felt extra sooper smrt the first time I figured that one out too. "Hey, people are making icons in png format. I wonder why-- oh. >->" I think the problem is that nobody ever *talks* about png. Most programs sort of emphasis jpg and gif, and that's it.
Yes! Hell, for me it's an awesome feeling when I accomplish pretty much anything on a piece of graphics... I'm still at that point when effectively navigating the program is a victory.
GIMP's actually pretty open between different file formats, I'd just never quite made the connection to why people were saving in that format...... *headdesk* I R not so bright sometimes.
Nah, I love yours - it's much easier to read, much more emphasis on the apple, and generally brighter (I had to go through a lot to make poor Zoe's face visible, since the pic itself is so dark...).
