Mar. 10th, 2006 06:44 pmToday, on the way home from work, I got snowed on.
That's right. Snow. In the middle of March, in Seattle. Weird.
Also, I paid a semi-obscene amount of money for uber-special reading glasses with melanin (hmm... sp?) that are supposed to help with eye-strain from computers, reading, and harsh overly-bright lights. Wow, that sounds like my whole college career, doesn't it? So hopefully they will help. They certainly feel good on the computer, I must say. Hopefully I'll get used to having them on soon, and the frames won't constantly distract me anymore.
And lastly, the book that the UW library system claimed I hadn't turned in yet? Sitting right there on their gorram shelf. This book was published in the early part of this century. They would have reamed my ass if I'd lost it, but can they keep track of whether or not it's been turned in? Apparently not. Silly library.
...I'm going to study now. ...Really.
I finally got curious about what exactly 'rooibos' is (other than meaning 'red bush,' which I knew from gods-know-where), and looked it up. Wikipedia told me all I needed to know, but I foolishly followed a link and found this: http://www.adagio.com/ Me and a tea website with cheap $2 for 10 cups worth) samples? A dangerous combination, to be sure. I do feel a bit smug, though - they may be a very fluffy and ritzy tea place, but their Oriental spice looks much less impressive than my Dragonwell Chai, and they don't have anything like my Rooibos Lavender. ;)

Date: 2006-03-11 04:34 pm (UTC)my editor friend introduced me to this awesome tea shop in palo alto last weekend: http://store.tea-time.com/
you go in and ask to smell any of the 100+ varieties of tea she has in big tins around the counter. last time i got some lemony japanese green, another green that had mango and pineapple and stuff in it (not as sweet as you'd imagine, but nice), and lychee black tea, which i haven't tried yet. i am going back today to see if they have some honeybush and try some more new things.
that adagio tea site is bizarrely huge. reading reviews of tea is one of the weirdest things i've ever seen.

Date: 2006-03-11 06:40 pm (UTC)Ooo. There's some places like that in Pike Place - I love Market Spice and the Perennial Tea Room, I've bought stuff from both of them in the past. You should definitely try the lychee black, one of my roommates bought the same thing at Uwajimiya's and let me try some, it's fabulous; it has that beautiful, soft, perfume-y sort of smell that lychees taste like, and a bit of the flavor. And those two greens sound wonderful - I've got a mint green tea and another that's blueberry and green that I just love.
