Have I mentioned recently that I love Voltaire? Lyrics from "The USS Make-Shit-Up" off the album "Oh My Goth":

Sisko's on a mission to go no bloody place
He loiters on a space station above Bajoran space
The wormhole's opened up and now they come from near and far
We'll keep the booze but please send back the fucking Jem-hadar.

In other (old) sci-fi news, Babylon 5 still going very well - I made it halfway through the first season, and even though I've yet to see a plot that surprises me (alas, I've been pegging the solution to 95% of all plot-devices since the first episode), I like the characters well enough that I can't quit. If by 'characters' you mean Ivanova, Londo, G'Kar, and Garibaldi. And occasionally Sheridan, but I'm iffy on him. He's kind of... overplayed. Oh, and I really like Delenn's assistant, whatever the hell his name is. Less fond of Delenn, but I'm told she gets better. I will say that I prefer her pre-metamorphosis look, though. (Yes, I'm spoiled for that. And I'm fairly sure I've correctly guessed why it happens, too.)

Unsurprisingly, Ivanova wins first place in my heart (*gasp* Me, like the snarky, dry-witted Amazon type? Who would ever have guessed...). Slightly more surprising... I think Londo might be second. o_O I like G'Kar better, but Londo just amuses the hell out of me.

I think it goes without saying that I have a deep, abiding fondness for G'kar. He and Londo have some of the Best Chemistry Ever, and it only deepens and intensifies as the series goes on.

And yes, Delenn gets better, trust me. Her assistant is named Lennier. And why am I still able to remember all this shit while 1) stoned on painkillers and 2) having not watched an episode in several years?

Yeah, I figured G'Kar would be one of your favorites. I just love their rivalry and how gleeful they both are about trying to screw the other over. They're like vicious teenagers. And I'm interested to see how that develops, since one of my housemates described them at the end of the series as "practically married." ;)

I figured she would, she just hasn't had a lot to do yet, other than be ethereal and vaguely suspicious about the whole Grey Council thing, and (as near as I can tell) 'secretly' moon over Sheridan. At least that's my guess.

As for being able to remember shit like that, I know exactly how you feel - I remember more junk about the various latter-day Star Trek series than I even want to think about. No wonder class stuff is so often in one ear and out at the end of the quarter - the long-term memory is stuffed full of actor's names and inane details of various sci-fi shows!

Oh, yes, G'Kar and Londo have a love/hate relationship that grows more complex through the series. Also, if you are not a screaming G'Kar fangirl by the end, I will be very, very surprised.

In fact, they are SFM that JMS wrote a spoof script in which G'Kar changes genders from male to female and winds up sleeping with Londo. He did it as a prank, and had the cast convinced it was an actual shooting script. After, Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas would perform scenes from it at cons. I never had the pleasure of seeing it, but I understand it was screamingly funny.

Considering how fond of him I am already, I'll be shocked if I'm not totally in love with him by the end. ;)

Oh dear god - first off, that's the best prank a producer/writer could ever pull, I think. Secondly... wow. I would so have loved to see that scene performed, 'cause I bet they pulled it off just amazingly.

You liked G'Kar in the middle of the first Season... he didn't grow on me until much later. :)

Looking forward to your future thoughts on the show. DO NOT SEEK ANY SPOILERS. It's waaaay better that way.

I've liked G'Kar pretty much from the beginning - I have a thing for the morally ambiguous characters who aren't exactly predictable, to begin with, and one of the first eps I ever saw was the one where somebody's been sent to kill him. So he grew on me really fast.

I won't! I'm struggling to keep my amount of spoilage at exactly where it is right now, which is that I've picked up a few bits and pieces I didn't fully understand via being aware of the show but not actually watching it. Character bits, thankfully, more than actual plot. So yay. *g*
