I finally made it out to the contra dancing at Phinney tonight, and despite the fact that it meant me running around like a chicken with my head cut off, dashing from one thing to another all day and then getting whirled around to the point of dizziness all night, I had an absolute blast. I'll totally be going again, hopefully next week.
Anybody who thinks they even might be interested in fun, fast folk-dancing complete with a lesson before-hand and a slow build-up of skills from one dance to the next (and believe me, I'm the two-left-feet sort of person, so if I can do it, anybody can) I totally recommend it. It's an easy jaunt from the university, and the people are very friendly. Plus, it's only $4, and they give you a free admit ticket for your second time (I'm told they only take the first 15 free admits per night or so, but if you show up at 7pm for the workshop I doubt it'd be a problem). How can you beat that?
