Today's awesome discovery - Winamp TV.

I know, I know - how long have I been saying that I don't watch TV? And I don't. But... how can I resist something that shows Red Dwarf, Scrubs, The X-Files, Mythbusters, MST3K, Firefly, Buffy, Babylon 5... not to mention a lot of other stuff I don't have a hell of a lot of interest in, but still! If I want to, I can actually watch things! Without having to hunt down DVDs!

Edited: Three problems: First off, the listed episode title apparently has little to no bearing on what's actually being shown. Hmm. Second, clicking until there's server space for me to wiggle in is a bit tedious. Third, the damned thing apparently decided I was unworthy after I'd only watched a few minutes of an episode. Weeeeird.

It's a good thing I have plenty of reading I ought to be doing instead. *Sighs*

1. The titles don't update unless you do it manually with the refresh button.

2. If you make an empty playlist with just the stream you're interested in and put it on repeat, it will keep trying until it connects.

3. The popular ones tend to kick you off after just a few minutes. The only way to get around that is to pay the $5 a month subcription fee for a membership.

P.S. Also, if you have a membership, there's *always* server space for you. --It's one of those, you get what you pay for deals.

I doubt I'll be using it too much (I generally prefer watching DVDs, for the benefit of being able to choose exactly when and in what order I see things), but it's nice just to have the option open to me, especially with those few things cleared up.

If you have Winamp media player (available at winamp.com, if I'm not mistaken), you go to the main menu in the upper left corner of the player, click "Media Library," and then go to... "Online Services." There's a bunch of stuff under that tab, but one of the things is "Shoutcast TV." There's a lot of troubles with the server being full and stuff, but it's still pretty snazzy if, like me, you just every so often have the urge to watch a bit of TV. *g*
