random fannish flashback moment
Apr. 10th, 2006 09:44 pmWent digging through my photo files 'cause I'm sleepy but I didn't want to go to bed at 9pm, and the muse was failing me for anything more productive, and I found this.

I'm a lot more pleased with this pic than I remember being when we originally saw the whole group of them just after we saw Serenity. The sweater is still wrong (*points to icon in annoyance*), but it was the best I could manage at the time, and as for my expression... eh, that's what I get for shooting for 'in character.' And we look pretty damned good, taken as a group. We did what we could on a relatively low budget... and we were still the only group at the showing that had more than one person in costume.
In case it's not obvious, from top left that's: Zoe, Mal, Simon, Kaylee, Jayne, and Inara, then Wash and River in the lower row. I'm too sleepy to put usernames, but you all know who you are. Good-looking crew, there and in real life. *g* (I feel compelled to add, at serious risk of being killed by the Jewish equivalent of the Pinky of Doom, that Kari does an admirable job of Thinking Tall in this picture. Good thing Sean's sitting. ...*Runs away*)
Maybe someday if I get really ambitious, I'll try to edit out the movie posters in the background. ;)
Bed-time now. I've done all the productivity I'm gonna manage for the night.

Date: 2006-04-11 05:30 am (UTC)Awww, I'm excited for him, too! It's so fun to watch someone go through something completely fresh like that. :D

Date: 2006-04-11 05:45 am (UTC)And what I realize is that somehow I ended up being in the fore of the picture while everyone else who was standing was in the background, skewing the precption. Go us for awesome posing. ^_^ And yes, Sean sitting down helped.
(Lookit me not hurt you... awwww... lookit me be too far away to hurt you.)

Date: 2006-04-11 04:27 pm (UTC)Dude, so the paper was harder than I thought it'd be, the one for Death class. I'm too used to being "And that's what I think about that. Period, end of sentence." o_O

Date: 2006-04-11 04:51 pm (UTC)(Yeah, but it makes me feel weird, now. That's a big thing I'm focusing on in my English class this quarter - getting out of all the pat little academic habits that were trained into me to the point that I do them without thinking.)

Date: 2006-04-11 03:59 pm (UTC)That's true, we actually did a very clever job of putting you at the front of the group without it being at all obvious - perspective helps! I'm impressed that we did that without really meaning to. Go us.
(You can't hurt me in class, either - at this point, I've got Professor Green thinking he can't run lecture without me! Haha! I'm safe! *Dances*)

Date: 2006-04-11 03:52 pm (UTC)Me too, Jaide would've been adorable as Book. And yeah, Charlie's got the look down. I still can't believe the whole line cheered when he showed up. That was one of the funniest moments of the whole night. *Laughs*

Date: 2006-04-11 03:46 pm (UTC)I was all over the city trying to find a really loose-knit fine sort of sweater exactly like the one River wears - it was like some kind of mad obsession. The one I ended up with doesn't look too awful in the pictures, but in real life it was just too chunky and thick. Ah well. ;)

Date: 2006-04-12 02:36 am (UTC)Thanks! I've been learning how to use GIMP (a free-ware graphics program) for the last year or so, and I'm finally at the point where I can do a few really nifty little tricks with it. *g*

Date: 2006-04-12 05:06 am (UTC)Do you think you can make me an icon?

Date: 2006-04-12 02:38 pm (UTC)I can certainly try! What did you have in mind?

Date: 2006-04-12 09:20 pm (UTC)Anything pretty. Haha I'm gonna leave it up to you. I'm a big River fan, but really anything would be great.

Date: 2006-04-13 03:57 pm (UTC)Something pretty, with River. I'll see what I can do! I'm turning in the final draft of a paper this afternoon, so I'll finally have some free time tonight for icon-work. :D
