accomplishment
May. 24th, 2006 11:00 amHaha! Draft two of the personal narrative is finished, and I'm starting to feel pretty good about this damned thing. Go me! I hope the good feelings survive the conference with my professor next Tuesday. *Crosses fingers*
I feel a little bit bad about using an essay for class as an opportunity to work through some of my Issues, but hey - what better venue than a personal narrative essay, honestly? Aside from my journal, that is. :P
Stillnot king no word from That Company about a 2nd interview. Am resigned to the fact that I'm probably out of the running. Am going to go on another application-spree this afternoon. Yay. (Ick.) At least I had the pleasure of hearing from most of the other folks at the gift council meeting last night that they aren't too sure what they're doing after school, either. Most of them, at least.
Also? They all hated Obnoxious Self-Righteous guy, too. Even our uber-nice coordinator lady. And the artist for the statue is so nice and cute and excited she was chosen for the commission. That made me happy.

Would it be appropriate for you to call them and ask about a 2nd interview? Or might that be seen as pushy or inappropriate?

Date: 2006-05-25 12:19 am (UTC)*Crosses fingers* The waiting is totally the worst part. Although if/when I'm denied, I'll no doubt think that's the worst part. *Wry*

Date: 2006-05-25 12:35 am (UTC)I can't remember where you said you're interviewing, but at some places these things take time. We're hiring a 3rd person in our department and it's like getting a bill through Congress. We have one great candidate and we're having to wait a couple weeks for a department that is linked to our department to decide whether or not they are going to re-structure (which could impact the hiring of this 3rd person in our group).

Date: 2006-05-25 01:03 am (UTC)I know, and it did seem like they weren't in any rush to get things settled immediately. That's weird that re-structuring in the other department would make such a big impact on the hiring in your department, but I guess it makes sense if the departments are linked. Interesting. I suppose I should be used to slow systems of business like this, having worked for the university as long as I have - the upper parts of our department are chronically slow at things, from what I hear.
