Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] stormkpr and [livejournal.com profile] jayneaintagirl:

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Also, discovered E-Podunk, with information on various cities, counties and neighborhoods. No terribly in-depth info, and there's some odd stuff missing (no Wallingford!), but still amusing.

Oh yeah, and GIP. I made about five versions of this damned icon last night, still not totally happy with the way it came out. But I'm amused nonetheless. It should be noted that because of the lighting, in the original picture Bashir's nose was pure white, the brightest and most central point of the whole picture. I had to paint by hand to fix it. *Snickers*

Is there any attribution on the list? I don't see the link.

Oh PS: On your recommendation I grabbed a bag of sesame ginger crisps. Good stuff, but I think I like stronger tastes in my snacks because I lean more toward their Salt & Vinegar line, or the tikka masala papadums.

Aww, that's too bad! I should've warned that I tend to like fairly mild flavors when it comes to crisps and things like that - salt and vinegar flavors and the like are usually too strong for me, although tikka masala flavored anything sounds wonderful... I might have to see about hunting those down!

Oh, you really should. They are droolsmackdevour and I can only keep one bag in the house at a time--I am tending toward putting them in individual serving size plastic bags because once I open one I must finish it.

Eeee. This sounds like a dangerous habit... perhaps it's a good thing I haven't seen them before!

I have noticed that hanging around ugly people makes you more attractive.

Eh. Being short is fun. It gives us an air of "aren't we cute and helpless?" So that when we viciously attack idiots, they're surprised by our ferocity!

I love that list ... I've seen it before, but never managed to put it anywhere that I could find it again. I guess my journal is as good a place as any!

I'd love to send out a mass-emailing of it to all the anti-gay marriage people I've ever met, and then ask them to logically dispute each and every point. And if they can't do that, then they have to change their damn minds!

Exactly! Oh, I wish I could do that... but I suppose it's a good thing that I really don't know any people who are anti-gay-marriage, except my stepmom. And I don't have her email address.

Besides, I'm sure I'd just get another "I just disagree with the lifestyle" argument from her. Which makes me gag.

You are very welcome! I believe in cheerily subverting the moral majority in all kinds of mostly-useless but amusing little ways. XD

Every time I read that, it makes me grin a little.

That icon, by the way, rocks.

(I need to start making icons at some point)

Me too. :D

I figured it was appropriate, despite the fact that the amazing dorkitude that was Julian and his never figuring out that Garak was so very in love with him. I ♥ those two so very much.

The writers, apparently? :P *Adopts whiney voice* "No, really, Garak's straight - let's do this insanely stupid thing where he might have a crush on Ziyal! And here - let's put Bashir and Ezri together even though he only really seems to have anything in common with her because he'd had a crush on Jadzia. And just to confuse matters, let's really push the whole thing with O'Brien and Bashir, because quasisexual tension with a married man is hilarious."

Honestly, they seemed to adore throwing people at Miles, which totally made me ill. There were at least two aliens who had things for him, plus the whole random "I love my wife, I just love you more" thing with him and Julian (what was that???), and the really creepy bit with him and Kira when she was carrying the O'Brien's baby and apparently that meant she couldn't resist being attracted to him. And the fact that that last bit was counterpointing the whole homosexuality thing with Dax and the wife of her past host makes me wonder if they weren't trying to emphasize how 'wrong' or socially unacceptable both were on some level, which makes me even more irritated.

Sometimes I wonder why I have a hard time remembering little daily-life things. Then I realize it's because my brain is still full of random trivia from a show I haven't really watched in five yeras. o_O

They turned O'Brien into this lust object and I TOTALLY DO NOT GET IT OKAY. He's got the accent and all, but Bashir and Sisko (imho) are by FAR hotter.

And... yeah. It's Star Trek--there's only het, come on, really. *eyerolls and pops over to your other thread*

I know!!! It was the weirdest thing ever! I'm sorry - I'm sure the actor is a lovely man, and yes, the accent is nice. And I'm normally all for showing normal people as attractive, I had no problem with him and Keiko, etc. No trouble at all. But... it was like everybody was either attracted to O'Brien or wanted to get the Dark Secrets of the Federation out of him. Hello? He's a non-commissioned engineer for crying out loud! What the hell did they expect to get out of him?

...not that it bothered me or anything. >_>

And yes. Only het exists on Star Trek. Except I'm told that Patrick Stewart has flat-out said he played Picard as a closeted homosexual (improved my opinion of the character quite a bit, I must say), and Andrew Robinson has stated that he played Garak as "omnisexual," a terminology that makes me laugh out loud... Ah, Star Trek. Sterilized futures - how I don't miss them.

That's funny as hell about Patrick Stewart. I have a friend who met him at a convention, and apparently he's a pretty cool guy. (As in like, there was an exchange something along the lines of "you're not like the other fanboys" "did you just say fanboys?" "yes." "if you weren't famous I'd hug you" "that's a joke, right?" "yes sir, Patrick Stewart") I need to stop thinking of that boy, holy shit. I am so sorry.

...We need to go to a convention and meet Patrick Stewart.

...Did I tell you what they're thinking of for the next movie? Or did I write it as an LJ entry or whatever?
