"duh" and further b5 comments
Jul. 19th, 2006 04:00 pmA Seattle P.I. headline from today: "Survey: Bloggers young, Net-savvy, like to write"
So... people who write on the internet are internet savvy and like to write. Wow. I'm impressed. And people wonder why I refused to take journalism in college....
In less snarky news, I've really enjoyed the last few B5 episodes I've seen. I'm almost through the 2nd season, and the characters and plot are really coming together very well, I think. And last night, they failed to fall into the "yay, we saved everybody just in time!" solution that always plagues medical-themed episodes in other series. Go them for not taking the easy way out.
Sinclair's wife (Edit: Apparently I mean Sheridan's wife. Which only proves my later point.) is totally going to show up before the end of Season 3, as another servant of the Shadows. No, don't tell me, either way. I don't want to know. But I'm convinced that's the way it's gonna fall. (Although, to be fair, I was also convinced that Kosh was going to be revealed to be some kind of super-advanced human, which no longer seems like the most likely case. Ah well.) Lastly, I'm irritable that almost two seasons in, I still can't keep Sheridan and Sinclair's names reliably straight - I have to check myself every time I write one of their names. Damn JMS for insisting on giving both of them his initials. :P
...Won't you all be happy when I'm done with this season and shut up about the damned show already? At least until I get 3...
Edit: Apparently, we LotR fans will soon be sending Peter Jackson more of our hard-earned cash. All I can say is that it'd damned well better have a gag reel.

Date: 2006-07-19 11:13 pm (UTC)I hate to ruin it for you, but the truth has to be known:
Kosh is a hobbit.

Date: 2006-07-19 11:18 pm (UTC)Of course, you realize this isn't entirely true. At his height, he'd have to be two hobbits, one standing on the other's shoulders.

Date: 2006-07-19 11:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, but I didn't want to spoil that part... Sam even gets to be on top sometimes.
Btw, I think you said Sinclair in the post when you meant Sheradan. Right after, you commented that you can't keep their names straight. :D :P

Date: 2006-07-19 11:34 pm (UTC)Son of a... See, this is what I mean! I'm always doing that. I which one I mean - the craggy(ish) one with the German Shepherd eyebrows was the first captain, and the second is the cutesy "I smile all the frigging time no matter what I'm saying" one. They're both total puppies. But the names! Maybe I should just start calling the second one John and the first one... Jeff? It was Jeff, wasn't it?

Date: 2006-07-19 11:37 pm (UTC)Yeppers!
Never you mind that the creator of the show's initials are JMS. ;)
Just call Sinclair Captain Zen and Sheridan Captain Smileypants. Sheridan loves his oranges too.

Date: 2006-07-19 11:40 pm (UTC)New rule: If a writer wants to give a character their initials, that's fine. But only one character per series, damn it!

Date: 2006-07-19 11:49 pm (UTC)I've always considered Sinclair to be pretty zen. He is much more serious and thoughtful and tended to muse about things Picard style quite a bit. Picard is not Zen though, he's French.
Kosh: Look Sheridan! There's some oranges over that cliff! Jump!
Sheridan: Okie Dokie!!!!

Date: 2006-07-19 11:53 pm (UTC)...Incidentally, it seemed really out of character for him to hate that thing. I totally thought he was faking and that we'd see it in his quarters at the end of the episode.
And yes. Oh yes. Hence, puppy. Sheridan is a complete puppy. ♥

This is so hilarious and true. If only all stories required such little research; I might have actually had a career in that field... (that is a sad statement about how lazy I am.)

Date: 2006-07-20 04:39 pm (UTC)Oh, it wasn't anything like that, really. It was just this girl I met in the senior gift council - there's been a little bit of a vibe sometimes, so I'm not sure what's up with that. But it was just hanging out and chatting.
