Things that do not help me to write fic, in the order they occurred this evening:
1. Doubts about character speech patterns / modes of reference.
(1a. Not having time / inclination / materials to just check the above directly)
2. JMS having exercized his (very legitimate and understandable, but still irritating) right to have the free copies of B5 scripts removed from the website I usually use for reference.
3. The B5 Wiki having no direct quotes, but yet managing to spoil me totally rotten for still more tiny plot details. Argh. How can I detail-check if every damned little thing is going to spoil me?!
4. Unwillingness to finish something unless I'm sure it's true to the character.
Started Season 3 today. As a sideline to the above, am I wrong in thinking that Lennier didn't always call Delenn by her first name? Am I just delusional? I thought he called her "Ambassador"... I hate not knowing what I'm doing with a series. But Marcus = very cute, and I was very happy with that whole season premiere episode. And the episode where Londo and G'Kar are stuck in one of the transport tubes because of the una-bomber guy was the one I saw part of waaaaaaaaay the hell back during first-run. I was glad to see it again, fully understanding everything. Also, Sheridan put the comm-link in his pants. ♥
My nutball love for Lennier went all giddy when he snagged the drink Marcus gave them out of Delenn's hands and tested it himself, first. Also, I think that little fight they were in is showing some progress in the fight choreography. Although Marcus' staff does not help his resemblance to a jedi.
I'll be interested to see how they get Vir back into the plot now that he's been shuffled off to Minbar. Likewise, it'll be interesting to see how Franklin's stims habit finally catches up to him (yes, I just admitted Franklin might be interesting). Likewise, I'm wondering how Londo's debt to Lennier might play out. Massive props to Katsulas for managing to play the "I'd rather watch you die than help you live" thing actually well. That was a tricky bit, and done very well. And they need to quit using lipliner on some of the Narns - it just looks weird, since most of them don't have it.
Writing goes apace, other than that. Spent last night at
zinjadu's 21st birthday party (yay!), and today out thrift-store hunting with
theladyfeylene and
coramegan. Found a nice shirt, and managed by the wonders of umbrella-parasols to avoid sunburn. Hooray!

Date: 2006-07-24 05:43 am (UTC)And sort of related to your post... my friend who owns all the B5 is going overseas for a couple of years, so I'm going to "look after" his collection while he's gone *glee*

Date: 2006-07-24 04:13 pm (UTC)Ooo, yay! You haven't seen any of it before, then? I hope you like it! It's kind of weird sometimes, and a bit cheesy, but it's such fun once it gets going!

Date: 2006-07-24 06:10 am (UTC)Aahhh, I'm glad you like Marcus, weird Aragorn-Obi-Wan-puppy cross-breed that he is. ♥ Good luck with the fic!

Date: 2006-07-24 04:11 pm (UTC)And he is that, exactly. I'm pretty sure some of the Aragorn stuff is intentional - it's too perfect to not be, it seems. Kendra was watching FotR last night, and I popped in for the Bree scene... very familiar, having just watched Marcus' intro. Classic rogue-hero stuff. ;)

Date: 2006-07-24 10:16 am (UTC)Um. The immediate plan is to have somebody already spoiled do the detail checking. This, however, may be a huge project and way too much of a PitA.
