boooooooooooored
Aug. 15th, 2006 03:49 pmStupid internet won't let me access news websites other than NPR, and everybody's in a meeting. So I'm bored. Tempted to just take out my book, but there's folks in the conference room from some HR firm, and the last thing I need is them seeing me with a (good but) cheap novel in my hands. :P
So. Meme.
Make up a title for a story I didn't write, and I will respond with details of those non-written stories. You may, if you like, include details, such as pairings or fandom or whatnot. Any fandom I know is fair game.
Please, gods - someone distract me.
Oh yeah, and congratulations to
maymargaret for landing a job!!!

Date: 2006-08-15 10:49 pm (UTC)Firefly. Kaylee/Simon.
Or Mal/Inara or Zoe/Wash.
Canon pairing, plz, is all I ask.
♥

Date: 2006-08-15 10:56 pm (UTC)Oh thank the gods I'm not all alone on the internet! Also, canon pairings are always the best. ...with the occasional weird little crack pairing for added flavor. Anyway.
The Deep Darkness of the Heart, huh? I'd say that would have to be post-Serenity, about the first anniversary of the day they got the signal out. Or maybe that's just on my brain since it's been almost a year since the movie came out. Wow. o_O

Date: 2006-08-15 11:01 pm (UTC)So, it's a year after the signal, and Inara is kind of freaked out to find that she's still aboard Serenity... Simon and Kaylee are still trying to figure out what exactly their relationship "means" (picture poor Simon trying to do the whole "where is this going?" conversation, while Kaylee just kind of stares blankly at him. "We're having fun, right?" "Well, yes, but I--" "So... if we're having fun, I don't see the problem."
And, for an added bit of angst, naturally Zoe is having a hard time dealing with the whole Wash-being-dead thing. *Snuggles her*

Holodecks with the almost-canon goodness of Julian/Garak.

He soon discovers, however, that Cardassians and mid-twentieth century Las Vegas may not necessarily be a good mix.

Date: 2006-08-15 11:53 pm (UTC)Another dispute with the dock-workers' guild leads to unprecedented delays in shipments entering and leaving Babylon 5, and one of those shipments includes three huge cases of Centauri jam, bound for the exotics markets back on Earth. With the political situation tense and the jam heading quickly in the way of fermentation, will Ivanova be able to get herself (and the station) out of a sticky situation in time?
(Yes, I deserve to be slapped for that last line... but I couldn't resist. I might have to write this one. XD)

Date: 2006-08-15 11:21 pm (UTC)We start out in a flashback to Mal and Zoe's war days - early on, they served under a hard-nosed bastard of a general, who was transferred back out to a different post not long before Serenity Valley. Zoe got on okay with him, but Mal and his natural authority issues weren't exactly endearing to the guy. Anyhow, once it became clear what a disaster the valley was, everybody sort of assumed that this guy had turned tail because he knew it was going to be a bloodbath, and wanted to save his own ass. Words of revenge have been bandied, but nobody's heard of him in all these years.
Well, cut forward to a few months after Serenity-the-movie. The crew recieves a distress call using an old Independent military code... and end up finding a small cadre of Indpendent soldiers (commanded by our buddy the hard-nosed general) who'd been marooned on a tiny moon in the middle of a significant distortion field... and who have no idea that the war is over. They'd been intended as sort of the... last minute cavalry that was supposed to give the Independents a fighting chance on Hera, but years later they're exhausted, barely-sane, and well-nigh nuts with isolation. The question is, what will Mal and Zoe do with them... and what will the General and his soldiers do when they get back out into the 'verse as it is now?
(Cliche, I know... but it's the best I could come up with on the spot.)

Date: 2006-08-15 11:02 pm (UTC)b5: Londo and G'kar

Date: 2006-08-15 11:11 pm (UTC)After Season 4 (obviously) G'Kar manipulates and bombasticates (?) his way back to Centauri, under the guise of a diplomatic mission to smooth over relations between their peoples now that both are members of the alliance. Naturally, though, he's far more concerned with pestering the hell out of Londo. He tricks Vir into helping him by playing up the need for Londo to de-stress, and through a hilarious series of mistakes they end up stuck at a little mountain 'retreat' (more like a shack, by Londo's estimation) for a week, with no way of communicating to the outside world. Yelling, sniping, nasty jokes, and hilarious attempts at wilderness survival ensue... including the fishing, of course. ;)
...Curses. I really need to make a G'Kar icon.

Date: 2006-08-16 04:39 pm (UTC)An FBI field conference in Seattle provides Mulder and Scully with the perfect excuse to escape from the DC office's politics for a while, but naturally it's not long before Mulder gets bored with the seminars and meetings. He finds a distraction in the form of Bill Hedge, a local panhandler and sometime sea fisherman who is convinced there's a monster in Lake Washington. Scully's research indicates that, if anything, it's likely to be a white sturgeon like the 11 foot specimen found in the same lake in 1987, but they may all have something bigger on the line than they expect...
(Sturgeons are fun. The biggest known specimen was "20 feet in length and 1,800 pounds." 'Course, that was in 1912, but... XD)

There's just something about a background in theater. It never leaves you.

Date: 2006-08-17 07:38 pm (UTC)A year after the events of Serenity, the crew has been basking in a period of relative comfort. Their peace is shattered by a small and very talented group of mercenaries who ambush the crew while on-planet, kidnapping Inara and River. At first it seems to be crime typical of the rim worlds, but when Mal, Jayne and Zoe try to set up an exchange for ransom it becomes clear that this was a precision strike, hired by the Alliance to retrieve River. But why was Inara taken with her, and what does the companion's former mentor have to do with the plot?
