Kendra and I all dressed up for Pirate Day.


She makes such a wonderful pirate. And I lust after her coat. ♥ Which she made herself, I should point out - also the lace on the shirt. Lovely, isn't it? *Wishes she had as much talent*


I look kind of dumb in this picture, but it's the best one for my costume. Very much not handmade, unlike Kendra's. More's the pity. But I figure... it works.


I think I over-sharped this one... but isn't she beautiful?


Rigging.... oh god the rigging... I loooooooove this boat, in case you can't tell. The only thing keeping you from being stuck with a zillion and one pictures of her is that I don't have the patience to resize and sharpen and edit all of them tonight.

I think eventually the first pic will be an icon. I really like it, I'm just not sure how it'll come out when it's cropped down to 100x100.

Thanks! We had a blast on both days - the pictures of us from the actual visit to the Lady Washington are kind of "bleh" because the sun was shining right in our eyes while we were out there... so fortunately the others from a month ago make up for it.

I had so much fun putting on all the gaudy costume jewelry I never have a chance to wear. And speaking of Vikings... I have to gloat. The little blue beads on my choker in that picture? Viking trade beads, a gift from some friends who went to Pennsic (huge east coast SCA event). I couldn't resist wearing them for the occasion. XD

Thanks! It's kind of a 'fake' corset, actually... it just has a panel of elastic-type black fabric and hooks/eyes in the back. But it's pretty from the front, at least. I have a real honest-to-god white satin corset, but it doesn't fit me anymore. :P

Eee, thank you! I was so giddy - photos of me tend to be really hit and miss, so it was great luck that so many of the pirate pics came out well.

Proof that my subconscious isn't fully used to the internet (or awake) yet: my first reaction was "of course you can borrow it!" *Headdesk* Probably not effective what with the whole different-state thing. :P

It's not quite as impressive as it looks, if it makes you feel better... the back is just black elastic-y stuff with hooks. My real corset doesn't fit me anymore, sadly. I guess it'll be a good consolation prize when I hit middle age and my metabolism slows down again.

It was so cute - one of the volunteers was pushing people for questions (I think he was bored), and when we paused to try to think of something he jumped in - "Yes, Johnny Depp stood right here...."

Kendra and I look at each other, laugh. "Well, yeah... but we're really and truly here for the boat!"

Thanks! She's an amazing boat... we're both hoping to volunteer to serve on her for a few weeks next summer, now. I've always loved sailing, but on a boat like that? That's a dream!

4) Pirate weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival is in mid-September, I can't wait to dress up and go because your pictures remind me how fun it is!

2. Ooo. I had the same thing with a real leather tricorn hat, the day we did the whole pirate dress-up. I was so close to buying it. $85 bucks, but... it looked just like Jack's hat!!!
