Okay, this whole not being able to highlight in some entries thing really upsets me. Why? Because I have a semi-compulsive habit of highlighting patterns in text while I read. It's really weird and I can't really remember how it started, but now it's habit, and it bothers me to not be able to do it. It makes me kind of twitchy.

...Yeah, I know, I'm crazy.

In other news, game last night was really fun (many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jyuu_chan and [livejournal.com profile] stormwolf for lending me the player's handbook, and to [livejournal.com profile] glasseye and [livejournal.com profile] ursule for inviting me!), although I have a slight problem with my character. I had originally conceived of him as sort of... pathetic in personality, but not necessarily in actions. He's gotten by on his own for four years; he's still a bit naive but he's got the necessary skills. So what happens last night? Everything poor Fane did decided to go wrong. A seventh-level paladin should not be able to blow things that badly. :P

Of course, part of it was me mucking up my modifiers 'cause I haven't played in so long. So at least that ought not to be an issue for much longer...

Also, the internet is screwy and won't let me get to the online newspapers and such that usually entertain me. I'm going to be lonely and needy today, f-list: please pity me and give me attention and entertainment? ♥

I totally do that text-highlighting thing too. It's just easier to see, you know?

Maybe that's how it started for me? Now, though, I highlight text to make patterns in the paragraphs. I can't explain it really... maybe I can screencap sometime to make it make sense. Like... it's not about what it says (although I do it while I'm reading), it's just about finding the right visual balance in the lines.

...And that's just making it sound more and more crazy, so I'll leave off now. o_O

Hmmm ... yeah, I don't do that exactly. Do you highlight things you've already read, or things you're reading at the moment? I usually just highlight whatever bit of the page I'm actually looking at.

Weeeeeell, considering I just did on your comment without thinking about it, I'd say the part I'm reading. But it's not like it helps the reading bit. Like... okay. Example:

Hmmm ... yeah, I don't do that exactly. Do you highlight things you've already read, or things you're reading at the moment? I usually just highlight whatever bit of the page I'm actually looking at.

I literally just highlight for the look of the lines - it's nothing to do with the words, although I like it if I can get a full sentence and it looks nice. I have a feeling it started with me highlighting sentences or something, and then the shapes weren't quite right when I did that, so I started... edging in on one side, taking two lines at a time, things like that. It's just a weird little habit, I hardly think about it anymore... and then I realize how totally bizarre it looks to anybody who notices me doing it.

....Okay, that totally didn't work because of the way the text rearranged itself in the comment. It's always the S shapes, you know?

Kind of like that. And it works best if there's dialogue or something, because then there's little bits. Umm. I have no idea if this is going to show.

Heh. Yeah, that is a little more crazy than my highlighting habit ... but not much. XD

I'm not explaining it well. It's just a little twitch, almost, kind of the computer equivalent of twiddling my thumbs or something. *Shrugs*

Yay, game! (I realized as we were playing that our characters are mild opposites, since I'm running a socially aggressive, chaotic minor noble from the South . . .)

They are! Tillot seems like a fun character - I'm looking forward to her and Fane getting to chat some, especially since they're so totally different.

I was thinking about linking you to a YouTube, but then I realized the language wasn't right for an office setting.

It's very funny and wtf, though.

Yeah, probably not good. I'm listening to NPR streaming audio, now, so that's good at least.

Indeed good!

You and I were talking about fairy tales a while ago, yes?

I can't remember the exact conversation, but that would not at all be unusual for me! What fairy tales in particular?

Ahhh, I can't remember now. Perhaps it was called "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" or something similar.

I asked, though, because I found a very creepy, but very good retelling of Red Riding Hood on Newgrounds.

*rejoices in being home and thus being able to highlight*

But yes! I do that too! It REALLY bugs me that I can't at work :[

That whole thing seriously makes me feel crazy when I start thinking about it... it seems so normal while I do it, though.........
