Today, I spent an obscene amount of money.

First off, I bought a set (a whole set, and rather a large one at that) of Prismacolor markers. They're beautiful... and I just now proved that I am going to need rather a lot of practice with them before I can make them work well with my style of drawing. Unfortunately I demolished a perfectly good sketch in order to figure this out. Ouch. >_<

And of course one has to buy paper to go with the new pens... and a sketch pad as well... oh, and some new black lining markers.

And then... Tower Records is going out of business. Tower frigging Records. AKA pretty much the only store that I buy new CDs from. So of course I had to buy CDs. I ended up with Sarah Mclachlan's Afterglow: Live, Poe's Haunted, and Waking Hour by Vienna Teng. And then, though this is a complete trifle, I also bought a chai-spice cider at Tully's. Color me satisfied... but damned if I'm going to spend any more unnecessary money for the next few weeks. I'm calling all of this a pre-birthday splurge, so it's okay, but... yikes.

ooou! Prismas! I got a set of 100+ for xmas from laylah last year, and they are so awesome. I have more shades of grey than I know what to do with

but it did take me years to get around how to use them effectively >-> I got them too young to appreciate them, really.

o-0 is it just the tower record on the ave, or all of them?

Tower is going out of business alltogether - all the stores are being liquidated.

I really like them so far - they're a little tricky to begin with, but I sense a lot of potential. And a lot of purchasing of expansions... I got the fairly mid-line size set, but it just doesn't have as many shades as I'd like. Ah well... plenty of time to upgrade later. XD

And yeah, all of them... isn't that awful? I'm so sad....

I bought cords today (to teach in, since I try to dress on the preppy side of my wardrobe to ensure that I won't space out and show up to teach in clothing full of holes) and the clerk recognized me and called me a loyal customer. Which is scary, since I buy clothes maybe twice a year.

You know, that seems to happen a lot around here, where clerks/waitresses/whatever will say "oh, you're back!" ...when you haven't been in for a year or more. I was seriously convinced I had a twin, there for a while, that's how frequently it kept happening to me!

Good for you! How large a set did you buy?
I thought of going to a Tower Records, but I just didn't feel like going anywhere today, and I think the only 2 are downtown and the U district I think.

48. Which doesn't sound like a lot... and in some ways it isn't, really, but they're good pens, so they're damnably expensive. :P

I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I got what I did, before they went out of business... it'll be hard to find lesser-known artists, now. :P

Don't beat yourself up too much. Sometimes we just need to buy things. It's so hard to resist the temptation sometimes. Just tell yourself you'll be more frugal in the next few weeks or months now.

I won't. I had a few little panicky moments before I bought the pens, but I've decided that art supplies are simply something I have to splurge on from time to time. And music, too - what's life without music?

It was! And it was justified, just kind of scary for me - I tend to be kind of semi-neurotic about not spending money, so when I actually do it kind of shocks me. But in a good way, at least this time!

Yes! I originally bought it because of the song "Hey Pretty" (I liked both versions), but I love Spanish Doll, Control and Wild. And she's got a nice voice, too.

She does indeed! I mostly got it for "Hey Pretty," "Amazed," and "Not a Virgin." I'm only sad that it doesn't have "Fly Away" on it - I love that song. I can't wait til I have a chance to listen to more of it, though!

I LOVE THOSE CDs. Waking Hour is something I listen to constantly. My entirely layout is based on Momentum. *___* It's probably my new favourite song, honestly. Everyone on the FLOOR knows I like that song, I listen to it so often.

Oh, and Finny says that if you are going to come visit and you happen to drag your friend who knows him, he would be happy. And that way you wouldn't have to travel all that way without anyone you know. ♥

Me too, now that I've got them! XD I've been in love with the little bits of Vienna Teng that I've heard for quite some time, now, and this CD has pretty much all the songs I'd heard, plus a few more I hadn't, so I'm ecstatic.

Hee! I don't know if that'll work for this trip, but we should definitely arrange something with all four of us sometime soon, whether it's you guys coming out here or us going out there. ♥
