Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] pussreboots and [livejournal.com profile] andpuff: Sci-fi/Fantasy Book meme!

This is a list of the 50 most significant science fiction/fantasy novels, 1953-2002, according to the Science Fiction Book Club.

Bold the ones you've read, strike-out the ones you hated, italicize those you started but never finished and put an asterisk beside the ones you loved.
So... strike out the ones you read and hated, or just the ones you hated? Hmm.

7 have been made into films/tv series I have seen :)

I've only read a few but there are plenty which I am meaning to read on there, I just started Rendezvous with Rama last night.

I read most of those so long ago that I barely remember them, honestly... I devoured a lot of random older sci-fi novels when I was in my very early teens, with little to no retention. Alas.

Yeah, my eye keeps catching on that name, too. Lovely homage on JMS's part, but it's going to make me snicker every time I see that name for... oh, probably the rest of my life, honestly. Yay for a good memory for useless details. :P

Though it was The Demolished Man which was the real influence on the Psi Corps and the telepaths of the B5 universe. And originally JMS wasn't going to use the first name, too, but pressure... and there's a bit of a fanwanky discussion of it in the first telepath trilogy book.

... Okay, done now. ;)

*Laughs* Fanwanky discussion of Bester's name? Wow. That's an especially silly reason for fanwankery.
