There's nothing quite like a month trying to write original fiction to revitalize my fic-brain.

More than that, there's nothing quite like trying to do a huge new-fandom project and a handful of holiday surprises to redirect my brain onto an old and completely random half-finished project in a totally different fandom. *Sighs* I've spent the last several hours working on totally not the project I sat down to work on.

On the plus side, I think it's going well. Angsty and currently trying to get into territory bound to make my poor little brain kind of go splut, but... hey, who am I to complain? That happens in most of my fic, in one way or another. Perhaps this will be the one where I bite the bullet (umm... figuratively, though with just enough Freudian significance that I shouldn't have used that phrase) and deal with the Issue that's been bugging me in several of my most recent projects. I have a fun little mental blockage when it comes to writing sex scenes... and it keeps catching me up. Must fix that. Must get past mental blockage. Am beginning to think it's somehow psychologically significant or something. :P

Oh, and maymargaret and I made plum pudding today. Meanwhile, I'm still having a hard time remembering that it's actually December... And I have a job interview tomorrow, for the university's bookstore. Cue equal parts panic and glee!

Writing sex scenes was something I didn't do until this year. It is a stumbling block. The way I finally convinced myself to do it was to write something that was totally pr0n, no real plot, and just let myself be all frivolous. And it worked.

As a side effect, I now write slash. *sigh* What's a girl to do...

I've actually managed one sex scene in a fic in the past - it was f/f, and the pairing was completely non-canon with actually rather a large age difference between the two characters... and I had sooo hoped that all of that put together would get me past this complex. But alas, no luck. I'm always afraid of it sounding totally lame, or totally romance-novel-stupid or something.

I have no problem writing sex scenes (though I can't say they are good). However, I always end up cutting them and fading to black before they get to a reader :)

I have no trouble writing the beginning of a sex scene, but once I get into the actual sex things start sounding weird to me. So yeah, I usually fade to black, as well, in the end.

Thanks! That's kind of what I thought - it's not really what I 'should' be going for (that would be jobs that use my writing and are somehow involved in non-profit sector), but I think it could be fun. So I'm crossing my fingers.
