I get feedback at this job. *Boggles* Like "hey, you're really doing well on the register" and "you seem to have everything pretty much in hand - do you have any questions?" This is a strange and novel concept to me. Also, my manager brought in pastries from a local French bakery for everybody who was working today, which made my day significantly brighter. And I got to chat briefly with this totally adorable professor I took Intro to Western Religions about half a decade ago. No, literally. He didn't remember me in the slightest, but he's adorable nonetheless.

...In other words, still liking the job even though I get tired and don't have the same days off as my friends anymore. Which sucks completely, but what can you do? My biggest problem so far is that a lot of the time all I want is to hunker down someplace and start reading the books, which really isn't what they're paying me for. Alas.

Fic-work is being problematic. Obsession with spider solitaire is not making it easier. Otherwise, life continues as usual.

Feedback would be awesome. Without it, I slowly do less and less because no one seems to notice things unless I point out that I did them.
I'm jealous.

Exactly. If nobody cares, what's the point?

It's too bad that on the job feedback is this rarity. I wish more supervisors would tell people how they are doing. So many people don't want to have those conversations. So anyway, I'm glad you're getting some feedback.

Exactly - it takes so little effort for the supervisors, but I think it helps so much for the employees. At least I know it helps me. *g*

Do you get to borrow books from work? That's one of my favorite benefits of my job.

I hear you about wanting to read the books. Every time I'm scheduled to check in delivery at the library, I think I spend more time looking at all the pretty new books and reading their dust covers (along with one or two first pages) than I do actually checking them in. This is a fact my boss has yet to discover, thankfully. ;)

Feedback = awesome.

I'm fairly happy with how my work functions and *I* would love more feedback.

Bummer about the lack of overlapping days off, though; that's gotta be frustrating. (And my first job having been in a public library, I definitely feel your pain about wanting to sit down and read the books.)

That is way cool that he brought pastries. I was talking to the other general managers at a meeting and it came up of how to increas moral. I told them how I will make food for my crew occasionally and they could not quite wrap their brains around this. My theory is if you bring things in that are homemade it strengthens the team aspect of the store. I am always teaching and makeing sure my crew is taken care of. If they are happy than the guest is happy. Plus I actually care what happens to them.
