Blessed Imbolc to all who celebrate! Spring is at last entering the world, and it's really showing here in Seattle - the weather is still very cold, but it's been bright and clear these past several days, and the evenings are getting steadily lighter as days go by. It feels wonderful to see it coming.

I spent last night eating pizza and watching the first few episodes of Angel with the housemates, and then went downstairs for honey mead, a bit of prayer, and some practice with my runes and Tarot deck. I think I'm starting to get the hang of the latter, and the new set of runes are feeling pretty good. All in all, a successful night, I think.

Plans for today and tomorrow are kind of up in the air, due to attempts to get together with an old high school friend and/or [livejournal.com profile] narsilion, but other than that I'm intending to do some editing, drawing, maybe a bit of sewing (I want handkerchiefs, and need to patch up some jeans), and maybe take a walk to the park or something to enjoy the sunlight. Oh, and writing. Must get back to the wring - yesterday at work I wrote a bunch of notes on the idea that's been percolating in the back of my head, and... I think I might be getting somewhere. Sort of. Fingers crossed on this one - it feels like a really neat idea.

Edit to add: From [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda: The Potterdämmerung has a date: the final book will come out July 21, 2007. The Order of the Phoenix movie: July 13th, 2007. God help us all.

...They're really trying to create the wank to end all wank, aren't they? Like the last book coming out won't be enough all on it's own...

.........And this is the point at which I realize that I work at a bookstore. I'm sure this is going to make life... very interesting on that day. Not so much in the textbook section, but... everybody upstairs is going to get stomped. o_O

We'll all be praying for you that day, that St. Severus of Euvranches, patron saint of the East Kingdom Knitters' Guild*, protect and guard you from being run over by hordes of shrieking fen.

*Really. We're thinking of having pilgrim badges made up of a bishop with long stringy hair and a big nose....

*Laughs* Thank you kindly for that! The real shriekers probably won't come downstairs near the college books, where I work... but it'll probably still be a Very Interesting Day in the bookstore. *g*

Is this the same St. Severus (http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=320) whose feast day is October 15? I was so pleased to notice a St. Severus on my birthday. (Especially now that I notice he's associated with a "Lupus of Troyes"!)

I don't see the point of releasing it a week after the movie. Staggering works so well, and gives everyone a chance to catch their breath in between insanities. Maybe if the movie were HBP it would make sense. . .

It may be spring in Seattle, but we're supposed to get snow this weekend - again. This is getting ridiculous *g*

I really, truly, deeply thought that the thing was going to be released on Halloween. I mean... look at the title! Look at the symbolic significance regarding the Potters! It made perfect sense.

Or, barring that, wait another ten days and release it on July 31st.

o_O Holy hell. I mean... we sometimes get snow into February, but that's still not normal.

Yeah, as one of the lucky employees of ye mall library, I feel your pain.

I've already had patrons trying to put the book on hold, but no release date, no holds. Now the masses will descend. We also just started to put the pick-up holds out in the middle of the library so patrons can pick up their own holds. I'm thinking we might invest in an armed guard on July 21.

Eeeee, no kidding! I can just imagine the trauma, what with some twitty fan deciding s/he can try to steal somebody else's hold copy. Ah... people. *Sighs*

There should be a temporary support group for people in book selling/lending professions, just for this little event. ;)
