We've never met in person but I have many fond memories of us discussing Firefly. There was our famed "Where are the showers on Serenity?" discussion, where I believe you were the first to break the news that there aren't any!

Plus I almost forgot how we met -- during a very interesting discussion of women's roles in Firefly. I shared that theory, that each of the female characters does kinda reflect a stereotype of a female character in the Wild West, with many others.

I really hadn't thought of the topic at all until your post on it. I love Firefly but I do go "hmmm" at the thought of how its females seem to fall into one of the categories -- Calamity Jane, the country girl with spunk, or the whore with the heart of gold. Like you said, River is the only one who is harder to slot though she sure could be the damsel in distress up till Objects in Space.

Oh god, that conversation! I had so much fun that summer. And I did love that room. All my life I'm going to be chasing the memory of a bedroom in exactly my favorite shade of orange... and everybody else in the house hated it!

You were, too. I know the house didn't work out well for you guys, but I'm glad I stayed there for the summer.

I remember the first time we met! We were playing some game in that classroom (was it English? no, maybe the FIG class?) and I saw you and thought "hey, she seems like someone I'd hang out with" and then you picked me for the game and I thought "yep, we're gonna be friends" hehehe, yay! You're awesome!

Yes! I remember that, too - wasn't it something like the first day we had the FIG? That class was so boring sometimes, but I guess it did exactly what it was supposed to do, since it got us together and friends!
