Problem solved, computer and I happily cooperating again!

Moral(s) of the story?

1) Pay attention to those stupid Normal template messages that pop up - and CHANGE THE NAME!

2) Listen to Grandpa.

3) If all else fails, go to Dell Tech Support online.

Yay, I'm so glad everything's good and working again. I found out the last time my computer was acting up that the people over at Dell Tech Support are just about the Best People On Earth. I must have talked to the same Tech Support guy on the phone for about three days in a row and I ended up practically telling him my life story while we were sitting around waiting for my computer to load things and stop being a pain in the arse. So amusing, but sadly, the Dell Tech Support Guy knows more about me than some of my friends do, lol.
